About this deal

I enjoy reading YA but there were so many times where it definitely felt like a middle aged spin on how a teenage girl would/should think and talk. I enjoyed seeing Leigh’s growth throughout the story as well as her internal dialogue shift from the initial thoughts she had upon arriving at the manor. From first glance the cover was a little misleading, I see a woman with curves leaning over a bike - that was one of the biggest issues for me while reading this book. I was looking for a fun read to fill the gap between more intense and in-depth series that I normally read and I came across this book. The characters are realistic and relatable, the plot is full of twists and turns, and the inclusion of ghosts adds an extra layer of intrigue.

the main MC was 16 years old - but her age got lost in the writing, a lot of times I kept thinking she was older than she was, I think the author did not hit the thinking/characteristics of a 16 year old girl. My comment is about where the murder “mystery” leads, this was my least favourite part, it was more complicated than the rest of the book and not as interesting, it didn’t fit with the book vibe in my opinion. I’m a 49 year old woman who enjoyed harry potters, twilights, terry pratchetts discworld and this book was just the kind of I like.

Ill always support an upcoming author, I think as his first book, that is a huge accomplishment and I love seeing how much joy, popularity, happiness this has brought him! To my disappointment, the ghosts total interactions could probably fit three, maybe four pages total! Show more To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing migrants, asylum seekers and people from ethnic minority backgrounds residing in North London from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society, in particular by providing education, advice, information, advocacy and support to enable such people to gain confidence and new skills. By popular demand, Warner’s publisher is now working to release both hardcover and audiobook versions of the novel. Hopefully, I’ll be able to amend this review if the author edits and reworks his book to tighten and clean things up.I loved this book so much, I'm tempted to read it all over again to catch all the little things I must have missed this first time around. I really wanted to love this book, I really did love little Bodie and even eventually big Bodie, It had a really good plot line. Determined to solve the mystery, Leigh enlists the help of her new friend, Max, a tech-savvy teenager with an interest in the occult. Before professionally turning his hand to writing, Shawn was a paratrooper, a pediatric therapist, and an engineer.

When the police tell her they have no leads in the case, she decides to take matters into her own hands, turning to a ghostly friend for help. Leigh is a 16 year old teenage girl who after her parents are murdered, is taken in by a wealthy distant uncle and his family to the Simmons-Pierce Manor. I feel it’s important to give an honest review and include a few content warnings to help parents decide if their child should read this as the intended age range feels like 13+.The ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor have distinct personalities and backstories, and their interactions with Leigh and each other are both entertaining and poignant. Billy and Blaze always found themselves in the middle of some crisis and, with courage and heroics, never failed to save the day.
