About this deal

The high-quality stainless-steel design can sear, sauté, steam, slow cook and pressure cook meals. Just spin the control dial, select the mode and it cleverly estimates cooking time, temperature and, where needed, pressure. Cooking under pressure significantly reduces waiting times, so you can enjoy a buttery soft lamb shank in just 30 minutes. If you cook it on hot for the whole time, you're going to overcook the joint, and you won't enjoy it (and will need double-extra gravy!) The most basic slow cookers will have two or three temperature settings (low, warm and/or high), a large capacity ovenproof pot, a lid and a timer and that’s about it. Be sure to choose a model with a removable pot for easy cleaning and also to be able to use on the hob to brown off ingredients without using a separate pan. Slow cookers vary considerably, so follow your manufacturer's manual for guidelines on temperatures and cooking times. A family member got us this one about seven years ago and, other than a few dents on the outside; it's still going strong. Do you remove the skin from pork before slow cooking?

The latest breed of multi-cookers, particularly from Sage and Ninja, allows you to cook under pressure, as well as bake, fry, oven cook and even dehydrate and air fry. Pressure cooking allows you to cook dishes in a fraction of the time, handy if you’ve forgotten to turn the slow cooker on before work. FIND THE RIGHT TEMP: Whether you need to go extra low and slow or you want to speed things up, the 3 modes (low/med/high) will make your meals simple Remember, no matter how tempting it is, keep the lid on. This will keep the temperature and humidity consistent. Instead, cook it in the slow cooker with the skin on, and the fat will help enhance the flavours and keep the pork tender and juicy. With so many different slow cookers out there, choosing the right one for you can be confusing. Here are a few questions you might want to consider. There’s something fantastic about getting the slow cooker going and forgetting about it. Admittedly, if you’re working from home, the delicious smells wafting up the stairs might distract, but if you’re out and about there's nothing better than finishing work knowing that dinner is already taken care of. The latest designs don’t just cook low and slow either. Many now offer the speed of pressure cooking, the versatility of sautéing, grilling and even air frying. But which is best for your budget? What features should I look for in a slow cooker?

If you've kept a slow cooker dish in the fridge, you must wait for it to warm up before turning it on. Finished results: the tenderness of the meat and vegetables, the consistency of the cooked sauce and the heat of the food when serving Keep that skin on the pork. Yes, it's not going to look nice, and you'll certainly not want to eat it...yet.
