About this deal

The lithium-ion battery has a charge that can last 25 minutes. Testers have been able to clean 70 square metres with a single charge. While this isn’t the whopping 300 metres of the WV 5, it is suitable for small bathrooms, small apartments, and the average vehicle. The Vac comes with a 280mm suction nozzle designed to let you get right into the corners and edges of every window. A smaller nozzle is also available as an accessory, ensuring every cleaning task is covered.

The battery is integrated into the window vac, so you'll need to plug in the entire appliance for charging. The LED display proved useful as an indicator of how much charge, minute-by-minute, the Karcher Window Vac had accumulated, and also consumed when in use. For best results, use with Karcher cleaning agents. These are eco-friendly and bio-degradable and cut powerfully through grease, dirt, insects and the drips and streaks left by water without damaging the surface. Like the other models, the design is lightweight and compact. It’s also rated for use with every smooth surface, able to clean to the bottom of a window. The LED battery indicator lets you know when it’s time to charge. Tests have shown that the vacuum can clean 300 square meters with one charge. You’ll probably be able to do your car windows, your home windows, and many of the surfaces in your bathroom without ever losing power. LED charge indicator: Useful for revealing how much longer the battery will last before it needs a recharge.I’ve only had the vacuum for three weeks, so time will tell if it’ll make a difference, but so far so good. Kärcher window vac: Our verdict You use a separate spray bottle with window cleaner concentrate to help lift the dirt from the surface. While not exactly groundbreaking, a microfibre cleaning cloth head can be attached just above the spray nozzle to wipe over the spray when triggered. Ensure that the trigger is securely fixed to the bottle to avoid any leaks. In true pedant style, I’ve worked out that the 15 interior windows in my open-plan lounge-cum-summer room would have taken about 10 minutes to clean using the Kärcher vac and 20 minutes using my paper towel system. Multiply that figure if doing the whole house inside and out– about another 20 windows – and you can see how much time could be saved using a system like this. Enough time to watch at least two episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which, incidentally, I’m trying to curb while writing this article. In addition to working well on the glass of windows and windshields, this window vac can prevent streaks on:

The WV 1 is the most affordable window vac option. Like the others, it comes with a three-year warranty when you buy directly from Karcher, and a two-year warranty when you don’t. This model is a step up from the wv5 premium and is equipped with two exchangeable suction heads, one a smaller 170mm width and one larger 280mm, this versatile window vac works on mirrors, shower screens, tiles, and of course dirty or foggy windows. This extension set is a great accessory to any Katcher window vac, and can be used with every model from Karcher. It works by attaching to the handle so you can extend your reach. The set allows you to reach 1.5 metres further, making it easy to clean under furniture or to wipe high-rise windows. If you have any sorely neglected skylights, the extension set may be perfect for you.

Having added the cleaning concentrate to the spray bottle with 150ml of water, my first cleaning job with the Karcher Window Vac WV 6 Premium was the three- window bay in my front room. Thirty-five minutes is quite a long time when you’re just cleaning windows and bathrooms. Unless you have an exceptionally big house, you should have plenty of time to clear the grime and get a streak-free shine. The Karcher Window Vac WV 6 Premium is a cordless, handheld vacuum designed to remove drips and streaks from smooth surfaces. It weighs 0.8kg and measures 126 x 280 x 310mm (l x w x h), which makes it relatively easy and comfortable to use. The Karcher WV 6 window vac listed above has one of the longest battery lives we’ve seen and while it does have a higher price tag than the other models, if you’ve got a lot of windows to do, inside and outside – it’s a worthwhile expense. Water Tank Size

The WV 6 Premium is the most advanced of Karcher’s window vac offerings. It has more features and better cleaning power than the other window vacs. As such, it also has the highest price, although it’s still affordable. In addition, the dirty water tank is 50 per cent larger than that of the other models. The dirty water tank functions like the dustbin on a traditional vacuum. The larger it is, the more surface you can clean before needing to dump it.Weight and capacity: A kilo may not feel like much at first, but after half an hour of holding the unit at arm’s length it will start to hurt – especially when it fills up with 300ml or so of dirty water. The bigger the tank, the more cleaning you can do without having to stop and empty it, but the heavier it will get. So, tank size is less important than leak-proofing and easy emptying. What extra features and accessories are worth having? This Karcher product has a full two year Karcher Domestic use warranty. The warranty covers the machine for faulty or defective parts during the two year warranty period. This does not cover wear and tear and any consumable parts such as blades, motors, accessories or the result of commercial or industrial use that will result in the warranty being void and invalid.

It’s worth noting that it isn’t an essential cleaning appliance. It’s more of a handy add-on, as you can clean surfaces with spray and a cloth. But it did an effective job leaving areas streak-free, so it’s worth it if you’re looking for a simple way to keep on top of windows, mirrors and tiles. Bosch makes it onto nearly every “best” appliance list and it’s easy to see why. Their products are trustworthy, long-lasting, and a well-reviewed favourite among homeowners and renters alike. The chunky-looking GlassVAC window vac is no exception. Winner of the 2019 Red Dot award for design, this window vac from Bosch features a compact design ideal for handling tight spaces. Its battery runtime is a full 30 minutes and it can clean up to 35 windows (105m2) in a single charge. Unlike the previous two options, this window vac doesn’t come with a cleaning kit. You’ll need to use your own spray bottle, detergent, and cloth instead of using the included window cleaning concentrate. But if you already have window cleaning supplies, that’s not a huge loss. Unlike the other Kärcher window vacuums, this model has just one 250 millimetre suction head. It isn’t detachable and can’t be exchanged with other pieces. This means that it will take a little longer to clean large surfaces, and it might be more difficult to manoeuvre around smaller surfaces. Mind, Kärcher isn’t the only window vac manufacturer out there – you can see a few more brands in our guide to the Best Window Vacs– but since Kärcher invented the window vac and its range has been so favourably reviewed by other users, that’s the brand I thought I’d concentrate on.

See what others have said about our WV Window Cleaners

Battery charger, standard spray bottle with microfibre cleaning cloth, window cleaner concentrate (1 x 20ml), interchangeable suction nozzle I sprayed a generous amount of the cleaning solution over the window, then working the Karcher window vac vertically down the pane. I started with the smaller squeegee head, but later switched to the larger one to cover more surface area at once. None of that would matter if the Karcher didn’t clean windows brilliantly – and that’s where it really excels. Suction is strong and efficient right across the nozzle, so you can clean and dry into the silicone seal around your windows. The finish is about as streak-free as a window vac can achieve, although you may want to give your glass a final buff with a dry kitchen towel.
