About this deal

New version: Similar for Steyr but longer, with three air stripper plates as well. ComBrella can’t be connected to this model.

Frustrated by your performance with an air rifle? Wondering how to improve things? Well, washing airgun pellets could be a start. As could lubricating, sizing and sorting air rifle pellets. (Read our list of the best airgun pellets to buy online here.) I get your sentiment, and for 95% of shooters your right, but if you get involved with BR or some other comps where just a mm is all the difference in scoring then tiny changes make a big difference to the scorecards. MK4 – Further improvements to resolve all issues of the original design. Re-designed internal parts, spring tension can be fine-tuned with a hex key, free travel length of the probe doubled. The way I see it, every rifle has a pellet sizer built into it in the form of a breech, the breech will size the head & the air will size the skirt. If you're using a springer, I think the money's better spent using a pellet probe to ensure the pellet is inserted to the same depth every time. It's been a while since I've looked into pellet sizing properly but when I have in the past it seemed 50/50 whether it made a difference and I've struggled to find anyone able to actually quantify the difference & remove placebo from the equation. These pellets are not going to be that suitable for pest control or anything at long range but for the money I think they make a welcome addition to anyone’s arsenal and save you wasting you more expensive pellets when zeroing up. Other flatheads to consider : RWS Hobby, H&N Finale Match Light , RWS R10 Match Recommended: Crosman Piranha Precision turned in the UK from stainless steel, these pellets sizers force the pellet through a reamed taper, ensuring every pellet is exactly the same size, reducing group sizes and eliminating “flyers” in the field. Needless to say, the sizer will only reduce pellet size. Putting 4.51mm pellets through a 4.53mm sizer will have no effect. Weight plays a similar role as calibre, with heavier pellets being more powerful but sacrificing a little accuracy thanks to having more of a looped trajectory. The pellets weight is measured in grain with 8-10gr being about average for .177 and 15-18gr being about average for .22. Pellet Shape These pellets are designed for practice and target shooting and are so shaped to cut clean holes in the target for accurate scoring. The pellets are usually cheap and are available from many different brands. The downside of this shape is that they are less aerodynamic than some of the other types available and will start to tumble at long range. Also thanks to their flat headed shape they are not good for penetration and so not suitable for pest control at all. Domed Today, we don't even know what we did with the sizers and seaters. I suppose they are around here somewhere, but there's no incentive to find them. Log in to Reply

This is just a guess, but it’s going to be a pretty educated guess based on many years of testing and reviewing airguns. While valving and barrels certainly play a major role in the overall accuracy of an airgun, if the ammo isn’t consistent, you will always be shooting at a moving target. Clean your barrel once with JB Bore Compound and then do not clean it again. Never oil it – just shoot it. Airgun Nation is the epicenter for learning, sharing, and discussing everything related to airguns. Founded in 2015 and refreshed in 2022, we are the airgun metropolis for community and industry alike. Some shooters are running Predators through a sizing die to reduce their outside diameter by one-thousandth of an inch. This makes them easier to load. Keep in mind that sizing much more than one-thousandth can also render them inaccurate. I only have this secondhand and have never tried it myself. But it does make sense. If it works, this is a legitimate use of a pellet sizer.

Shoot a 20-shot group of sized pellets and another 20-shot group of unsized pellets at the same distance. You really should shoot at 20 yards or more to see a significant difference, although at 10 yards you can sometimes notice a difference if the number of shots is high enough. As the test results show (see below), there was good accuracy all round, but there was an increase in group size when using non- identical weights. At 25 yards, you might not really notice it, but at 30-40 yards this could be the difference between a hit or a miss.

Some shooters use a penny on their thumbs to help load solid pellets. I don’t know for certain that sizing will help, but I was told that it does by a gentleman who also shoots a Talon SS. High quality CNC brass pellet sizers Made and Designed in the UK. Simple and easy to use, just push .. The undisputed kind of domed pellets, the Air Arms pellets are supposedly carefully selected to to provide excellent shot to shot consistency, and even looking at the pellets in the tin, they look very uniform and free from imperfections on the surface. They also allow you to choose skirt size between .51 and .52, which is nice, with the .52 pellets coming out on top.

These are some of the cheapest pellets that money can. But don’t let that put you off, these practice pellets are made to a great standard and feature a classic wadcutter shape to cut clean holes in a paper target, allowing you to see exactly where you have shot. For this reason I think the Bisley practice pellets make a great choice for zeroing scopes in at short range and, well, practising. Pellet sizing was hot in the 1970s, when pellets weren’t as uniform as they are today. I own a sizer and I’ve used it to compare the accuracy of sized pellets against unsized pellets from the same tin. I have never seen a difference in accuracy, but I have heard of one reason for sizing that might make sense for some shooters. I’ll get to it at the end of this post. The plastic/metal tipped pellets suffer from similar problems to the pointed, in that any slight variation to the way the tip is seated can drastically effect accuracy. For this reason I would personally avoid them for anything other than close range dispatching. Hollow points are more useful for pest control, but you will still find the accuracy dropping off after around 25 metres in most guns. This is simply due to the fact that the shape of the hollowpoint affects the way the air flows around the pellet. The ‘Skirt’ In the 1990s the company was bought by Sheffield-based Walden Engineering to become Walden Sizer Ltd. Since then the company has thrived in Sheffield, with support from firstly OSL Group Ltd and now the Newburgh Group. The late Don Nygord, world champion air pistol shooter in the 1980s, once wrote that he could not see any difference between sized and unsized pellets. Don sold target airguns and pellets to shooters for many years and perhaps had the opportunity to test this theory more than many people in his quest for perfection.

If you’ve ever shot competitively or know someone that’s shot competitively, then you know that ammo selection is extremely important. Ask any .22LR benchrest shooter, and they’ll be able to tell you the exact ammo batch that performs best in their competition rifle. Do airgunners need this kind of attention to detail? You better believe it. Where Does Airgun Accuracy Come From? On the old forum I did a review of the TR Robb pellet sizer, complete with results shooting sized and unsized pellets. In summary, what I found was the sizer improved the performance of some pellets which were not particularly good performers when unsized. It made no discernable difference to batches which performed well unsized.

How to wash airgun pellets:

The two main sizes of pellet are .177 (4.5mm) or .22 (5.5mm). The legal limit in the UK for power on air guns is 12ft/lbs for rifles and 6ft/lbs for pistols, and due to the way the law works smaller pellets have to fly faster to meet this limit. This means that .177 pellets achieve much higher velocities than .22 pellets and as such provide flatter trajectories for increased accuracy. Pellets in the .22 calibre fly with more of a looped trajectory, and so they may require slight elevation adjustments, especially at range. With this, you can close the loading port by rotating the handle easily by the two rounded ends, instead of pushing it down with a quite big force. the pellet could be placed in exactly the same angle every time and the pressure curve applied in exactly the same way every time.
