I almost gave this record a 1 but at the eleventh hour I found myself semi-enjoying (honest) album closer 'I Wouldn't Ask You'. I wanted to bring a bunch of nine year olds into the studio and hear them sing, not only to resemble the things my mom told me, but to express the helplessness I felt when dealing with arthritis, (and represent the) voices I wanted to hear when I was first feeling emotions for women.

My mom is my absolute best friend. She and I have been close my whole life and I couldn’t be more grateful to have a person like her in my life. I'm struggling to find some redeeming features about this album. I know I said 'semi' listenable but I was lying. Lots of the songs have this slinky Prince-style arrangement but with none of the danger or the weirdness.Clairo has made an album of semi-listenable chart fodder. She sounds like she can't really be arsed, and not in a cool, fun, Kim Gordon way. Lyrics are slurred, and, again, not in a cool, fun way. Now, Clairo was catapulted to fame when her song 'Pretty Girl' went viral (40 million views on YouTube at time of criticising album) and it's a cool, fun, kinda dumb, heartfelt song that I had a feeling I would enjoy. I had a feeling because the differing factor between that song and the new album is a major label. Clairo, they are the devil and mate, I implore you to leave 'em.
