About this deal

Pig-Heart Boy was short-listed for the prestigious Carnegie Medal, while the television adaption won a BAFTA (best drama) as well as a Royal Television Society Award (children's drama), and numerous other awards.

was sparked off by something that happened to me when I was a child, being accused of something that I didn’t do. I loved every narrative as you really do get a glimpse into the characters, like Jude who I even began to like for a short while. She knows about terrible mistakes, and violence and family feuds, and the fierce divide between Noughts and Crosses. I highly recommend this series to anyone and I will be continuing on with the others very soon because I'm so excited to find out what's going to happen and how the rest of the story will pan out. One is her mother, with whom she has a reconciliation now that her mother has separated from her father and has cut out the drinking.Malorie Blackman's ground-breaking, award winning series charts the lives and loves of generations as it takes on race and equality with breathtaking drama and heart wrenching sadness. The vast majority are children’s novels, but she has also written Young Adult novels, early-reader books and picture books. As the lack of human donor organs becomes painfully apparent, Cameron and his family face an agonising and far-reaching decision when they are offered a pig’s heart. SERIOUSLY , THIS BOOK WAS THE DEATH OF ME I JUST SAT IN MY ROOM AT 4:30 IN THE MORNING WITH A BOX OF TISSUES AND UGLY CRYING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP. AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VISION STARTED TO GET BLURRY AND THE GATEWAY OF TEARS JUST FLOODED OUT AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH I TRIED- I COULDN'T STOP THEM!

Fear and hate, not a good mix, but it shows how Jude's life balances like a knife edge - one wrong move in either direction and the effects would be bad! Recent books include Noble Conflict (2013), a thriller set in a post-revolutionary utopia; Chasing the Stars (2017), a re-telling of Othello set in space, which was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize; and Blueblood (2020), a re-telling of the Bluebeard fairy tale. For those who have read Noughts and Crosses and decided not to continue on with the series, I completely understand why (plot-wise) but also because Noughts and Crosses has such a good and full story arc that it works 100% fine as a stand alone novel. She made a deal with the devil in this and doesn’t seem to realise that he’s going to come back and burn her arse off. Further, when Sephy and the band visit the Cross bar and Sephy is allowed to go through the front door but the Nought members of the band have to go through the back it also makes a comment on racial segregation in society. In March 2007, Blackman edited Unheard Voices, ananthology of stories and poems to Commemorate the bicentenary anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade. So to read a book where it’s the opposite in every sense, it really does put things into perspective. In 2005 Malorie was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her distinguished contribution to the world of children's books.
