For those of you who have not read it, the book tells the tale of Mary Lennox, orphaned when a cholera epidemic kills her parents in India and she is shipped home to live in the home of her reclusive uncle on the edge of the North York moors. Even though the book was intended for children, it impacted all generations and caused everyone who read it to take a look at the inhumane treatment horses received. Flexibound is an upmarket paperback bound in a type of flexible plastic/vinyl material, that feels rather nicer and more like suede than it sounds from the description. One where I am not overlooked by others, and where I can tend the earth in my own way, without reference to what others think a garden should look like.But on board the Covenant, the captive's adventures are only just beginning, as he experiences shipwreck, an unlikely friendship with the Jacobite rebel Alan Breck Stewart and perilous escapades across the Scottish Highlands.

For anyone who doesn't know the story itself it is quite old-fashioned and slow-paced, but there is wonderful description of both house and garden and also interesting character development. Join Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion as they embark on an adventure in the magical land of Oz.
