About this deal

Coming straight from that into Deception Point, I've noticed very quickly that Dan Brown recycles description/emotional response. It was a well thought out plot with great character development, but I wanted more out of the novel. In his books he combines actual historical incidents, historical institutions, secret societies that were and are in operation, secret government institution, agencies etc.

Therefore, there is significant political pressure placed on the team to confirm the suspicion that the meteorite remains include evidence of extraterrestrial life as it would represent a major achievement on NASA’s part and justify the current presidential administration’s investment in the space agency. The Delta Force soldiers kill Ming and Mangor while leaving Rachel, Tolland and Marlinson to perish on an ice floe, but they're rescued by the Navy submarine USS Charlotte. In a breathtaking race against time, Harvard professor Robert Langdon must decipher a labyrinthine trail of ancient symbols if he is to defeat those responsible - the Illuminati, a secret brotherhood presumed extinct for nearly four hundred years, reborn to continue their deadly vendetta against their most hated enemy, the Catholic Church. The writing style of Dan Brown is fantastic and I enjoyed the whole experience of reading the book, even more since in some novels you have a very good main plot but some dull secondary plot and/or scenes that you feel "dragged" when you have to read those chapters, but in my personal experience with the novel, I enjoyed to read the whole book with all its plots.

The action moves to the Arctic pole and the discovery of a meteorite apparently with evidence of life. Brown is currently at work on a new book as well as the Columbia Pictures film version of his most recent novel. He reaches into the water to obtain a sample and falls in due to an attack by microbots operated by the Delta Force team. On the eve of a United States presidential election, NASA discovers a meteorite in the Milne Ice Shelf containing fossils of insect-like creatures, seemingly proving the existence of extraterrestrial life.

The book is readable and lacks the self-indulgence seen with so many other authors and so many other Dan Brown books! By then, I already knew who Dan Brown was (it's not like I was living in cave, hehehe) but I still have to read his way popular books with the character of Robert Langdon. When a new NASA satellite spots evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory . She is a woman with a strong mind yet she has her own fears which show that she is real, almost human.Presidential Decision Directive 25 (PDD 25) grants Delta Forces “freedom from all legal accountability,” including exception from the 1876 Posse Comitatus Act – a statute imposing criminal penalties for anyone using the military for personal gain, domestic law enforcement, or unsanctioned covert operations. Here, the conspiracy doesn’t concern the Catholic Church but rather a political cover-up related to possible evidence of extraterrestrial life found in the Arctic Circle.

The chapters are also set from different perspectives; this was enjoyable but sometimes chapters were a page long and the book seemed to be a bit haphazard at times. The discovery will aid the campaign of her employer, the incumbent president of the United States, Zachary Herney, but put her further at odds with her already estranged father, Senator Sedgwick Sexton, a senator who is running for election. In Deception Point, bestselling author Dan Brown transports readers from the ultra-secret National Reconnaissance Office to the towering ice shelves of the Arctic Circle, and back again to the hallways of power inside the West Wing. With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Arctic to verify the authenticity of the find. After NASA's new satellite discovered a surprisingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic, the flaming space agency announced a victory that was badly needed .My first read of his work was The Da Vinci Code and from that point there was no stopping of reading his works. Whatever the reason, if you enjoy Dan Brown's Robert Langdon novels or are just a fan of a good thriller, I'd recommend giving Deception Point a chance.
