My hamster loves his new wooden wheel – he uses it more than he ever used the other wheels we’ve bought – think it’s the gentle cork feel on his little paws.

Wheels which are smaller than 28cm (11″) should not be advertised as being suitable for a Syrian Hamster. I have this one which is 26cm/10in and fine for a smaller Syrian but most open ones are wooden ones which can be plastikoted of course. Its high-quality running surface also provides a comfy and sturdy platform for your hamster to exercise, helping them remain fit and healthy. The Hamster loving community get frustrated to see tiny wheels being advertised as suitable for both Dwarf and Syrian Hamsters (This is probably because it would only fit a tiny cheap cage).

This unique and innovative design is healthier on hamster’s spines as it creates a more natural running motion rather than sprinting upwards in a normal wheel. Metal is obviously a stronger material and is far more durable than plastic, but it is also harder to clean.

Therefore flying saucers can often be a better choice for smaller hamsters, but it really is up to you. Silent spinners are of course designed to be far quieter, but it’s nearly impossible to create a wheel which emits no sound at all.It has been reported that the wheel is quiet and we are also pleased to see there is no inner cog which could trap a gerbils tail or long fur. This wheel features a 'part covered' plastic front which helps to prevent your hamster flying out at top speed. My oldest wheel has been in use for over two years now and is still just as quiet as when it was new.
