About this deal

As you may expect, there isn't particularly any outstanding character development, but the characters are still enjoyable to watch. It makes the show feel very static and doesn't lend itself to immersion, as the text takes up a good 25-75% of the screen most of the time. Haru’s master survives just fine among the ruins of civilization despite not having any particular skills and effortlessly communicates with aliens, mythological creatures, and all animals, except for the gorilla who only speaks French. Together, they traverse the ruins of civilization, encountering aliens, fox spirits, and other fantastic creatures along the way!

Doomsday with My Dog | Manga | Yen Press

Post-apocalyptic and dystopian stories are more known for their philosophical messages and melancholic tone than for any happy endings.

That bonus chapter is a blow (although very well done), but generally its breezy approach to post-apocalyptic adventure fiction sets it apart in a positive way. One of the standout aspects of Doomsday with My Dog is the relationship between the main character, Master, and her faithful companion, Haru-san. The theme of Future Boy Conan is that the old ways that brought about the Earth's ruin must die away entirely, replaced by completely new ideals that embrace nature and peace. As she explores this wasteland and interacts with the few alien species that have found her ruined world, Haru keeps her company.

Haru (the dog) is a sweet character, but “Master” (I don’t think we’re ever told her name) is kind of annoying. Comic strip of a woman who hikes through a post-apocalyptic Japan and deals with various issues like withdrawal from funny internet videos and not being able to read a map. The film acknowledges the repeated mistakes of human selfishness, as well as the power of the next generation's ability to learn from the mistakes of the past. And then there's the "alternate universe" story, set in a world where the apocalypse never happened, and it seriously made me cry. There's no plot here, it's just semi-philosophical/psychological conversations interspersed with silly doings. I also was greatly amused to learn that the "Flatwoods monster" of West Virginia became an unlikely beloved figure in Japan in the 1970s! Doomsday With My Dog ( 世界の終わりに柴犬と, Sekai no Owari ni Shiba Inu to, "At the End of the World With My Shiba Inu") is a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Yū Isihara. The series is drawn in a four-panel format, with the majority of the manga strips presented in pairs. This sentiment should ring true for plenty who admire their furry friends and celebrate seeing those relationships celebrated in a meaningful way.
