About this deal

I have considered dot mandala in a contrast color and I also have unicorn spit as well as some posh chalk metallic paint.

I dabbed a small amount of Rub ‘n Buff onto a paper plate, grabbed my makeup brush and used the stiffer end to blend thoroughly. I have some 30 year old chairs that I need to keep for at least another year before my budget let’s me get my dream sectional (google famaliving). I would like to use Rub and Buff to bring the highlights back and paint the whole thing with Rustoleum Clear Matt spray.

I knew Rub ‘n Buff was the answer, and I was finally able to carve out some time last weekend to make it happen. And of course, you’ll need the object you’ll be transforming along with a paper plate, paper towel or any clean surface to blend the Rub ‘n Buff. It took a few failed tries and some experimentation, but I finally figured out the best way to get consistent, beautiful results.

It must be stiff and not fluffy (a blending brush works well) and you’ll want super fine/soft bristles for best results. Inka Gold comes in 9 colors so you have less of a color selection available compared to Rub 'N Buff. Since I wanted the look of antique brass, I first purchased Antique Brass Rub n Buff (makes sense, right? I have a large frog that was painted and has been outside for years, The paint has worn off in many places. Rub ‘n Buff is a versatile and easy-to-use metallic finish wax that can be used on a variety of surfaces to give them a beautiful shine.Do you think it work just as well on something that came in a matte black finish, rather than something spray painted black? I reviewed every shade of gold Rub ‘n Buff, and I’m sharing the results—along with my technique for getting a perfect aged patina effect! The first time I tried using a cotton ball and that didn’t work at all, so take my advice and use a good makeup brush! The beauty of Rub ‘n Buff is that it’s quick and easy to apply, and it doesn’t require any special skills or techniques.

The application of Rub ‘n Buff is unlike anything I’ve used before (different than paint, wax, or gel) and requires a certain technique to get the aged look just right.

Rub ‘n buff is a type of metallic paint that can be used to add a ‘touch of gilding’ to just about any surface. Because Rub n Buff goes on in such a thin layer, it isn’t like paint that will show a difference in thickness between the original and the repair. I personally have found that depending on the metallic color I choose to use, I have had to apply multiple layers of the wax paste to achieve my desired color. Prep includes scuffing up the surface with fine steel wool or a sanding block, then using a good oil based spray primer.
