Not much is known about this wood, however, the wand that belonged to James Potter I was made of mahogany. It was described by Ollivander as "pliable and excellent for transfiguration", also that it had "a little more power" than the wand that belonged to his wife, Lily. Prefect badge: Draco owned a Slytherin Prefect badge, which he gained after becoming a Prefect in 1995. It is unclear if magical variants of trees used as wand woods, such as the Wiggentree and the Whomping Willow, can be used as wand wood, or if such wands would have additional properties.
Rowling has also revealed that she discovered that Harry's wand wood corresponded to his date of birth in the Celtic tree calendar afterward, and decided to use the calendar to assign the wand woods of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as a "hidden connection" between the three. [5]
Ollivander is unsure whether the allegiance of the Elder Wand must pass to its new master through murder. The two had a son together, named Scorpius Malfoy, who was raised by his mother not to believe that Muggles and Muggle-borns were scum; as such, family gatherings were fraught with tension. He resented the attention Harry received because of his fame and his prodigious flying ability, which led to Harry being permitted to join his house's Quidditch team at a younger age than most. The wand was used many times over Draco's seven years at Hogwarts, but mainly during the Battle of the Room of Requirement against the Trio. The teacher Draco initially respected the most was Severus Snape, Potions Master and Head of Slytherin House. Snape, in turn, took Draco as his favourite student and showed him undeserved lenience on several occasions, which likely had something to do with Snape's long-time comradeship with Draco's father, or on the pretext of it, given that Snape defected from the Death Eaters. Draco even stated that Snape should apply for the position of Headmaster, after Dumbledore was suspended. A year later, Harry physically disarms Draco. When he does that, Draco's hawthorn wand changes allegiance to Harry, and the Elder Wand follows suit. The cores of both wands were made using the only two feathers that Albus Dumbledore's personal phoenix, Fawkes, ever allowed to be taken.
