As I read the biography, I had thought that I would become so invested in its main character that I would be very sad for him when he died. Unexpectedly, there were three other moments instead that were intensely painful to vicariously witness. First was a short conversation he had with his estranged father where they actually exchanged an awkward and heartfelt “I love you.” Then there was the moment when he held his daughter for the last time and whispered into her ear before he went off to kill himself. Finally, there was Cortney’s reaction to his death. She had covered herself in layers of his clothes that still had the lingering scent of his body. Like all deaths, it’s the ones left behind that suffer. Michaels, Sean (July 24, 2014). "Courtney Love considering host of new Brad Pitts' for lead role in Cobain biopic". TheGuardian.com . Retrieved September 19, 2023. David Benioff was hired by Universal Pictures in October 2007 to write a screenplay based on the Charles R. Cross biography. [5] Courtney Love was to serve as executive producer with Marc Forster showing interest in directing. [6] However, in March 2009, Forster said that he was not going to direct the film but expressed hopes that it would be done well. [7] In 2014, it was reported that the film was still going ahead. [8] [9] However, as of 2023 there is no news on whether or not the movie will be released.

That day, Cobain had finished his performance on the national television show, Saturday Night Live. In the early hours of the morning, he deliberately injected himself with an overdose of heroin. His breathing stopped, and his muscles stiffened. Fortunately, his fiancé, Courtney, found him in time and saved him. These narrow misses would soon become commonplace. It was clear Cross had much interaction with the Nirvana frontman during his rise to fame but I was eager to find out what kind of relationship he had with Cobain. “Even as his biographer and someone who knew Kurt, I wasn’t his best friend. And I was editor of a music magazine. We were always gonna have the kind of relationship where he was gonna be sort of suspicious. He clearly respected what I did. I had the benefit of a biographer of going through Kurt’s personal effects and things. He kept copies of my magazines and articles that I had done among his stuff. That, I guess, is the ultimate compliment that a music star could pay a journalist. So, I was respected in the world he was in”.The second usage is just a song lyric which can mean virtually anything. Lyrics and poems are often created with multiple or ambiguous meanings in mind. The specific context of "heavier than heavenly" does not help much: I can't avoid feeling sad reading this tragic tale, but sometimes we have to stand face to face with others' struggles so we can learn to put things in perspective and learn. Here's what I learned: life is our most valuable gift.

Cross took the name "Heavier Than Heaven" from a tour Nirvana did with the band Tad in the United Kingdom. The lead singer, Tad Doyle, was very obese; the name which was thought up by the tour promoters, was meant in part to poke fun at the inaccurate idea that Tad alone weighed more than all of the members of Nirvana put together. One of the themes most prevalent throughout the Biography of Kurt Cobain was that you can achieve almost anything if you keep at it. You can achieve almost anything because Kurt’s record tops the charts, he becomes famous worldwide, and he never listened to anyone who said he couldn’t do it.Access-restricted-item true Addeddate 2020-10-02 16:06:56 Boxid IA1951811 Camera Sony Alpha-A6300 (Control) Collection_set printdisabled External-identifier Having grown up and considering myself a child of the 1990s, Nirvana was a staple my youth. With that came the legend and myth that was Kurt Cobain. We all knew he had taken his own life at young age, but not many of us truly knew much about the man. What was fact and what was fabrication. So that reason is why ‘Heavier Than Heaven’ had been on my radar for a while now. Kurt Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 to a middle-class family in the United States. His father, Don, worked as a mechanic at a gas station, and his mother, Wendy, took care of the children. Cobain showed an interest in music from an early age. When he returned from a trip to the park at the age of four, he immediately wrote a song about playing in the park. By the age of six, he could play music on the piano that he had heard on the radio.
