About this deal

Some history: I've been using Sennheiser's GAME ONE headsets since mid-2015. The audio quality is pretty much exactly what I want out of a headset, with a really good microphone (quality-wise) to boot. However, the GAME ONE has several downsides: creaky plastic / cheap build quality, cheap volume pot (knob) that eventually wears out (static, imbalanced audio, or both), 50 ohm impedance (onboard audio chipsets can only sometimes drive this), a mic that often requires a +10dB boost, and a high price tag. I've gone through four (4) GAME ONE headsets in 5 years due to the above reasons. Put another way: I definitely make use of the 2-year warranty. A simple handheld control means you can customise your massage experience with reverse rotation and soothing heat to maximise your relaxation and minimise hassle. Let’s take a good view of the front side first. The product lineup and product model is indicated on top-left. In the middle, you’ll see a sample picture of how the headset looks. On the bottom-left, some audio key features are displayed. This applies across games and movies as well. Dialogue sounds crisp and lifelike that I often found myself lifting an ear cup in the middle of the night just to be sure something wasn’t actually happening in the real world. Combatants footsteps in first-person shooters sound sharp and clear and you can accurately tell where they are coming from. There’s also a great deal of separation between game music and effects like bullets or explosions. This is the part of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review where we’re going to try the product. We’ll also share our thoughts and opinions about it.

Most notably, when tested both in-game and in more everyday tasks, the microphone performs excellently in general. It accurately delivers voice quality that no other headphones have. The GSP 500 features a new, improved open speaker system designed and manufactured by Sennheiser that delivers a natural sound performance, balancing excellent clarity with an enhanced low frequency response that adds excitement to the gaming audio. Specially positioned speakers within the ear cups channel the sound directly into the ears to ensure the best possible spatial representation and awareness of the gaming environment. A perfect fit for every gamer The GSP 500 follows the same styling cues as its big brother the GSP 600 series. The thing is massive with huge comfy ear cups that swallow your ears whole. The air traffic controller vibe is strong here with a chunky headband with its unique slide-to-fit mechanism. The ear cups connect to the headband with an intimidating metallic hinge better suited to a Caterpillar earth mover. This 2-axis hinge allows the cups to easily contort to different head sizes and shapes. The headset also has a low clamping force to provide a great fit and comfort meaning you’ll be able to wear this headset on longer sessions.

The microphone will automatically mute if you slide it upwards. Both other sides of ear cups have a circular slider; with the left one for microphone, and the right one for volume adjustment. AHG DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY –These AHG ear pads are compatible with GSP 500 GSP 550 GSP 600 GSP 670 headphones. These AHG ear pads are made with a HYBRID combination of PROTEIN LEATHER on the sides (increasing sound isolation) ALCANTARA on the top (for a smooth feel) and soft high-density foam (for great comfort). The plastic magazines are really amazing. And the new GSP will be using the same ones. They load really easy and I believe they are a huge factor in it's reliability. I think metal magazine feed lips potentially fatigue over time and are a large factor in feed reliability.

It works. It just works. Never have mis-feeds or alibi's. The only time I have trouble is with badly produced ammo. Otherwise, it just about eats everything and functions all of the time. Whatever you decide though, it’s clear – EPOS | SENNHEISER have got you covered in the gaming headset market. In more ways than one. Now, let’s move on to the next section of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review, the specifications. Specifications The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 gives a lot of immersive feeling and it really does make you feel like you’re inside the game. The soundstage is also wider and airier on the GSP 500. To reiterate what I wrote in the review of the GSP 600, this headset had me comfortably navigating my virtual surroundings because I knew that there was practically no way someone could approach me without being heard. All you need to do is listen—the GSP 500 will happily present you with the faintest footsteps. Someone's shooting at you from a distance? No problem—this headset will save you from turning around in panic as you'll instantly know where the gunfire is coming from. This is yet another gaming headset from Sennheiser with spatial positioning that can be considered eSports-grade.

The Microphone

If you have been hardcore gaming with your GSP 500, GSP 550 GSP 600 and GSP 670 headphones, then at some point those ear pads are going to fall apart. Give your Sennheiser GSP 500, GSP 550, GSP 600 or GSP 670 headphones many more gameplay hours with these Accessory House replacement ear pads. Wearing a heavy headset can be bothersome. But with the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500, comfort is easily achieved.

Lastly, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 headset is 220 mm in length, 100 mm in Width, and 240 mm in Height. Hands-on with the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Again, using the GSX 300 in conjunction with the GSP 500 headset offers you some great microphone controls. You get three voice effects of which warm is the best, adding a warmth of bass to your voice without distorting it. There’s also more controls for Gain, side tone and the amount of noise-cancelling. Verdict While it isn’t ideal for eSports, the ear cup design fits your ears perfectly and puts a balance between comfort and functionality. If you’re at home and it’s a summer season, this headset is going to help you. A Robust and Sturdy Build The mic is as good as it gets for gaming headphones. No issues there. The flip up to mute the mic is handy.

Sennheiser GSP 500 - Q&A

Even at maximum open-ness the adjuster at the top of the headset leaves the fit feeling rather tight against the sides of my head, in fact the adjustment levers don't seem to really make any perceptible difference at all. That said it's only slightly uncomfortable and hopefully will loosen up over time, and at least it is pressing on my skull and not my ears directly thanks to the cushy earpads. It's not an ear torture nightmare like a lot more expensive "super comfortable" headphones I've had recommended to me (Steelseries Arctis 7). The headset feels heavy and sturdy, and it can be flexed without breaking anything. The headset’s durability and build quality also determine what you’ve paid for, and the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 is a big win. Now that we’re done with the design section of the headset let’s move on to the key features. Key Features of the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Lastly, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 has an excellent microphone quality that ensures clean communication to you and your teammates. There’s no static and audio distortion present. As with every Sennheiser gaming headset, the GSP 500 has been designed from the ground up to enhance every aspect of the gaming experience and let you perform at your very best,” said Andreas Jessen, Head of Product Management Gaming, Sennheiser Communications A/S. “As well as delivering superior audio and comfort, a fully immersive gaming experience also depends on effortless ease of use and communication – even in the midst of fast-paced action.”
