About this deal

You may have your doubts that anything this small has the power to inflate car tyres from flat and you'd be right.

And even though the Sakura is beaten by its closely related Sealey sibling, its modern attributes make it an appealing alternative, albeit at the compromise of speed. But while its portable nature and trigger style are perfect for squeezing in the odd PSI or two, this model's rather slow inflation speed and short (15cm) air hose make longer pumping jobs tedious. Each of the compressors was used to inflate a regular 15-inch tyre from 20-30psi and then a 16-inch space-saver tyre from 55-60 psi.Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). The range has won multiple awards from across Europe, including from Auto Express, Practical Caravan Magazine, Honest John, Reise-Mobil and Which? Keeping tyre pressures as manufacturers recommend saves fuel, reduces emissions and ensures your car will handle and stop as it should. With a max pressure of 50psi, it’s not the most powerful inflator on this list, but hit claims to pump a tyre from flat to 30psi in three minutes, which is an impressive feat.

It's not designed to completely inflate a tyre - for that you need a more serious bit of kit like the Ring RTC1000, but for checking tyre pressures (and topping up) it's ideal. Details such as accessory adaptors (for cycle tyres, footballs etc) or LED light, ease of operation, quality of instructions, hose length and accessory sockets were also taken into account. Not sure why, but maybe to allow for when you remove the tube from the valve, albeit the leakage was so minimal, to be nothing! However, it doesn’t come with a case, like the admittedly pricier Ring RTC1000, meaning that it’s vulnerable to getting scuffed by other things that you put into your boot.A multi-functional tool, it comes equipped with a number of extra adapters so it can pump up sports balls and blow up beds.

Again it was simple to use and fast to inflate - a handy thing to have for when the kids decide they want to play football there and then. Its small size means you can tuck it away in the car boot and have it there for emergencies but we found it great for topping up bike tyres, especially when they've not been ridden for a few weeks. We like the four-scale digital display, the worklight that comes on with the trigger and, most usefully, the trigger lock that makes it more comfortable to use. We like the digital gauge and auto-stop facility, but pressure has to be expressed in PSI only, unlike with all the other units here. The AA offers vehicle insurance, breakdown cover, incredibly detailed road maps and now, car tyre inflators. The wrong tyre pressures can also increase your vehicle’s overall fuel consumption and cause uneven or illegal tyre wear, which means you’ll need to replace your tyres sooner. It probably took longer to type in that mouthful of a name than for the unit to inflate our test tyre from flat. They'll have your back in an emergency and will save you time (and queuing at the supermarket) if you need to add some air before a long journey.
