The rum matures in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks to create its exceptional flavour. Named after freedom fighter Olaudah Equiano, The Equiano Rum Co donate 5% of company profits to ground-level freedom and equality projects annually. the two separate rums are then married in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at the Foursquare distillery. The rum from Foursquare is aged in American white oak, while the liquid from Gray's is aged in French limousin oak and Cognac casks.
