Peter Robinson: But, sorry. You said you were a 19th-century man? Yeah, my father was a quintessential 19th-century intellectual, one of these great scholars of old, and that's the tradition that I was born. So he would, when I was young, when I was a little boy, I found my homework, my notebooks from history class in the fifth grade. And I see these fantastically learned essays about the Maccabees, about Hellenism and so on, and he clearly dictated it to me. I wrote it in my child's handwriting. So you know, I got A's history always. I got A's generally, but I got A's in history. So then he said to me, "You write, I'll edit." And then he said to me, "You edit," and he taught me how to write and how to edit. And at a very young age, I do both.

Bibi: My Story,” Benjamin Netanyahu On His Life And Times “Bibi: My Story,” Benjamin Netanyahu On His Life And Times

It includes, among other topics, Mr. Netanyahu’s upbringing and education in both Israel and the United States, his own military service with a branch of Israel’s special forces, the Sayeret Maktal, his entry into business and then Israel’s diplomatic service in Washington during the Reagan administration, and, of course, his various terms as Prime Minister and leader of the opposition. While any autobiographer can be expected to put the facts about his or her life in the best possible light, what emerges—independent of what Mr. Netanyahu writes about himself—is a picture of a highly competent man of many, varied talents and someone who has much to teach about leadership. In Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s ”compelling” (The Economist) and“substantive” (The Guardian) autobiography, the newly reelected prime minister of Israel tells the story of his family, his path to leadership, and his unceasing commitment to defending his country and securing its future. Avraham is commanded to Lech Lecha - literally to “go forth for yourself” - or which can also be understand as: “within yourself” - from his land, birthplace and father’s house to the land that Hashem will show him. Bibi Netanyahu: They fit right there. I mean, Israel is the only country in the Middle East that categorically and absolutely allows freedom of worship, access to the holy places and so on. And otherwise, otherwise it would be a tinder box here. I mean, I call the Temple Mount in Jerusalem the most explosive square mile in the world. And yet it is only under Israeli sovereignty that the freedom of faiths of all three major monotheistic faiths has been guaranteed. When the Muslims ruled the Temple Mount, the Jews and the Christians were excluded. When the Christians under the Crusaders ruled it, the Jews and the Muslims were excluded. But it's only under Israel that no one is excluded. And that, obviously you have flare-ups here and there, but it's that policy that I will continue of ensuring a status quo which allows the freedom of religion, freedom of worship for all three religions, that it can be secured. And most people, when they eye it, objectively understand that.

Neil Lochery is the Catherine Lewis Professor of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Studies at University... Yoni have become a legend; Bibi felt he might in no way get over his grief. Yet, stimulated with the aid of using Yoni`s legacy and guided with the aid of using the awareness of his visionary historian father, Bibi thrust himself into the worldwide battle in opposition to terrorism, in the end turning into the longest-serving top minister in Israel`s records. Netanyahu notes that he regularly studied the weekly Torah portion with his son. Yet in political life, he has ignored the universalism within Judaism and its concern for global justice.

Bibi: My Story’ due out in November Netanyahu autobiography ‘Bibi: My Story’ due out in November

I liked the most Chapter 29, which Bibi show what the steps he took to transform the Socialistic poor economy of Israel to liberal economy between 1996 to 1999. The cabinet ministers were already busy munching away, passing dishes to one another. It reminded me of the Shabbat Breakfast Club in the synagogue in Hull, Massachusetts. Today I heard some incredible words of wisdom - they didn’t come from a Rabbi - they actually came from a non-religious Israeli singer.Bibi Netanyahu is the longest serving Prime Minister of Israel (15 years) and is the first Prime Minister to be born in Israel after the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948. He served as Prime Minister from 1996-1999 (during the Clinton administration) and from 2009-2021 (during the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations, and has served as Prime Minister again since December 2022. This book includes very interesting anecdotes of Bibi’s personal relationships and political negotiations with each of these presidents, as well as his negotiations with key players for the Palestinians and the Arab states. He is candid about the mistakes he made in his tenure as Prime Minister as well as his successes.

Peter Robinson: "Bibi: My Story", "Father stressed," you're writing about your father. "Father stressed that the appeal to leaders should center mainly on interests. Why is the position we are advocating in the interest of your country? What will be the benefit to the United States for supporting our position?" Close quote, okay. You've just, you've been talking about this, that in some basic way, your fight is our fight. They chant "Death to Israel", and then they chant "Death to the United States", but let me just put it to you squarely. We provide Israel some four billion in aid a year. We work with your intelligence. We open our markets to your tech. I have Israeli neighbors across the street because of the tech connection. But why is that in our interest? Why is the United States stronger or more prosperous or a better country because we are allied with you?Israel’s politics are fractious and tribal. The far right grows as the left is decimated by the failed dream of the Oslo peace accords. Yet outside politics, things there are less fevered and acrid. Start-Up Nation has supplanted the kibbutz. Technology makes the desert bloom. On 5 March 2018, in the Oval Office in Washington, Netanyahu played Trump another short video, about what the Israelis said they found. Peter Robinson: And faster. Does that, that in itself ought to create or could create some diplomatic, some greater scope for real cooperation between the two countries. Is that right? Netanyahu was born in Israel but attended high school in Philadelphia and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Throughout his book, Netanyahu calls his dad, Benzion Netanyahu, “Father”. Netanyahu the elder taught at Cornell. His son respects the US but is not enamored by its culture. Meanwhile, Trump lashes out at American Jews for not showing him the love evangelicals do: “US Jews need to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel – Before it is too late!”

Following the interview, there was a brief conversation about Bibi’s writing process and the political biographies that influenced him.

Peter Robinson: Your generation has succeeded. Israel faces dangers, but it's going no place. This state is here to stay. Your children, what's the task for their generation? PDF / EPUB File Name: Bibi_My_Story_-_Benjamin_Netanyahu.pdf, Bibi_My_Story_-_Benjamin_Netanyahu.epub Second, his relationship with many US presidents is fascinating. I appreciate his candor regarding differences of opinion (most starkly with Obama, whose geopolitical perspective he summarizes well), but his respect for each leader is obvious. He speaks generously of all. Peter Robinson: Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu, the once and future Prime Minister of the state of Israel, and the author of "Bibi: My Story". Thank you.
