About this deal

If it lacks in any area, it’s the low-end; it’s not bad at all; it just lacks the depth/richness of some others. Sweetwater's Sales Engineers are regarded as the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the music industry, with extensive music backgrounds and intense training on the latest products and technologies. The PX-S series was designed for stage use, hence the portability factor, but I don’t exactly see why the CDP-S series needed the same treatment. The Casio CDP-S150 comes with 64 notes of polyphony and 10 tones — 3 different grand piano tones, 3 electric piano tones, a harpsichord, strings and 2 organ voices.

The key action is relatively silent but the compact nature of the chassis means the keys have a shorter pivot than the competition. Despite the downgrade from the PX-S series’ key action, the impressive feat of engineering that is the shortened width is still present, and the slim width of the CDP-S100 speaks for itself. but in the case of the Casio, if you say it feels unnatural (and you have an acoustic piano so you have grounds to back up your opinion) then I guess I'll try to avoid it and go for the P45, unless there's no other way and I have to go for the CasioI have not played the particular Casio you are considering. In terms of playability, this results in a slightly lower degree of accuracy, though from personal experience it still feels responsive.

Hi Terry, touch-wise these are quite similar, in fact, the CDP-S100 has a newer key action, but the difference is not big. Personally, I recommend practicing with the standard preset, as it has the clearest tone of the bunch and allows you to pinpoint mistakes and weaknesses easily.

It creates two identical playing zones across the keyboard for side-by-side student/teacher practice.

Hi Fabio, indeed, the sound engines are different, and the default piano sound is different as well. By the way, I personally don’t think the CDP-S100 sounds horrible, it just has a slightly different character with a cleaner, drier tone. Among the competition, the Casio CDP-S150 has one of the slimmest profiles and takes up a small footprint. Essentially, the sound palette on offer is decent enough for practice purposes, with attention clearly given to the piano tones. Note: There’s no option to connect the CDP-S100 to an optional SP-34 triple pedal unit because it doesn’t have the required pedal port.
