About this deal

Even significant life events such as buying a house, having a baby or planning a wedding could lead to feelings of stress and anxiety. This quote from Martin Luther King Jr. is beautiful and one of the most calming quotes for anxiety that I have come across: It has been said that the most repeated phrase in Scripture is, “Do not be afraid.” Some variation of it is mentioned over 350 times. God said it to Gideon when calling him to lead Israel (Judges 6:23). God said it to Jeremiah when calling him to be a prophet to the nations (Jer 1:8). Christ said it to the women at his resurrection (Matt 28:10). Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything.”

It should be the same every day (e.g. in the living room from 5:00 to 5:20 p.m.) and early enough that it won’t make you anxious right before bedtime. During your worry period, you’re allowed to worry about whatever’s on your mind. The rest of the day, however, is a worry-free zone. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than food and more to the body than clothing? Anxiety is a normal emotion. The normal anxiety of life is part of our biological make-up. There are several evolutionary reasons why it can be a good thing. Write down your worries. If an anxious thought or worry comes into your head during the day, make a brief note of it and then continue about your day. Remind yourself that you’ll have time to think about it later, so there’s no need to worry about it right now. Also, writing down your thoughts—on a pad or on your phone or computer—is much harder work than simply thinking them, so your worries are more likely to lose their power.

Jumping to conclusions. Making negative interpretations without actual evidence. You act like a mind reader: “I can tell she secretly hates me.” Or a fortune teller: “I just know something terrible is going to happen.” Because anxiety is a type of fear, the things we’ve described about fear above are also true for anxiety. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him. Sometimes, the best way to stop anxious thoughts is to leave a situation and get moving. Focusing on your body and not your mind may help relieve your anxiety. Low impact exercises like walking, yoga, and tai-chi can often help people to reduce stress and manage anxiety symptoms.

You could also try complementary therapies or exercise such as massage, t’ai chi, yoga, mindfulness techniques, or meditation. 4-7-8 breathing technique When you're feeling anxious or scared, your body releases stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. You might find it hard to explain to people why you feel this way, but talking to someone could help you find a solution. Such reasons show that even if some emotions are beyond our control, we need to find solutions that put our fears to work for us rather than against us.

God will always provide grace for the day. It is when we bear the burden of the next day, it is too much for us. George Macdonald said: “No man ever sank under the burden of the day. It is when tomorrow’s burden is added to the burden of today, that the weight is more than a man can bear.” 6 Kent Hughes adds: Occasionally reflecting on something bad that has passed – or something that may be scary or bad in the future – can be helpful. It can help us to problem-solve how we might deal with issues next time. Often the way you conquer a passion is by focusing on a greater passion. To focus on earthly matters like riches and basic needs will always breed worry and anxiety. Focusing on eternal matters delivers us from those worries and brings God’s peace. Look at the birds in the sky: They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you more valuable than they are? Nothing relieves stress better than a meaningful connection to another person. Working with pets and other animals has also been shown to improve mood and reduce stress and anxiety. Tip 6: Practice mindfulness
