About this deal

I am very fond of my teacher. At a certain point, the lessons become my favourite activity. As I study with her, the next, inevitable step in this strange linguistic journey becomes clear. At a certain point, I decide to move to Italy. I feel more protected when I write in Italian, even though I'm also more exposed Italian, Spanish, and French are all part of the Romance languages, or languages descended from Latin. This means they are closely related and have a lot in common in terms of vocabulary and grammar. The C: is pronounced [k] when followed by A, O or U, but must be pronounced [ʧ] when followed by I or E. The C is pronounced [k] before I and E only with the placement of an H between the consonant and the vowel, as in "chiamo". To pronounce [ʧ] before the other vowels, place an I between the consonant and vowel.

Having studied Latin for many years, I find the first chapters of this textbook fairly easy. I manage to memorise some conjugations, do some exercises. But I don’t like the silence, the isolation of the self-teaching process. It seems detached, wrong. As if I were studying a musical instrument without ever playing it. Take the words from a given themed list and create sample sentences to help you remember them. (Write them and say them aloud.)Fashion is another major attraction of the country, which is considered to be one of the world's largest exporters of luxury goods such as Ferrari, Maserati, Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Azimut, Riva etc. Elegance and design also pervade the country through events such as Milan Fashion Week. It’s perfect for exposure to actual Italian readings without being overwhelming. It consists of eight “unconventional” short stories for Italian learners. The R: the Italian R is rolled, that is to say with an articulation produced by the tip or blade of the tongue against the alveolar ridge. During pronunciation the vocal cords must vibrate.

I buy a book. It’s called Teach Yourself Italian. An exhortatory title, full of hope and possibility. As if it were possible to learn on your own. For the extra media-obsessed, you can even watch the news in Italian. While Italian news stations like Rai allow you to stream Italian news reports any time of the day, I suggest beginners try News in Slow Italian. Believe it or not, it’s not an overly difficult language for English speakers but it’s often hard for new learners to know where exactly to begin. One unique feature of this textbook is that it uses a “discovery” method of teaching, which aims to help you better internalize Italian language rules and patterns. So, maybe you’ve decided to self-study Italian. Congratulations on your decision! While it may not always be easy, it’ll be worth it. Teaching yourself a new language is a rewarding experience, but finding the right tools to learn are essential. Globally, Italian isn’t very useful – it is spoken almost exclusively in Italy. Why did you choose to dedicate yourself to this language in particular?

During the first months in Rome, my clandestine Italian diary is the only thing that consoles me, that gives me stability. Often, awake and restless in the middle of the night, I go to the desk to compose some paragraphs in Italian. It’s an absolutely secret project. No one suspects, no one knows. Based on topics presented in the textbook, each short story is broken into paragraphs alternating between Italian and English translations. What’s best is that Marco’s channel also features Italian lessons explained in Spanish! So if you’re not a native English speaker and are more comfortable learning Italian from Spanish, you can do that too! ItalianPod101 Here are six of my favourite video channels to learn Italian for free! Speak Italian With Your Mouth Full My husband and children have been very supportive. Really, there aren’t any reasons not to learn Italian! So, What Is the Best Way To Learn Italian? By Watching TV of Course!
