This model features a slide rule bezel which helps to shrink the apparent case size while also calculating speed, fuel usage, and even tip calculation for taking care of the wait staff (though each requires a true understanding of how to use a slide rule). Timex sexed-up its bland three hander by offering the watch with a variety of different colorful and patterned woven straps. To align the large seconds hand for the chronograph, pull the crown to 3rd position and press the start/stop pusher to move a second at a time.

Note in the prior advertisement pictures that the model I purchased is pictured with a white date wheel. The Timex Weekender uses a strap that’s more ZULU than NATO (inexplicably adorning the 40mm Timex Weekender): two metal keepers on a single web, devoid of the fold over bit that prevents the watch from sliding off.The glass is a plain old mineral glass crystal, not the more expensive sapphire, so it's a little less scratch-prone. I don’t see it holding up well in more active or dangerous situations, and while Timex says it has 30m/98ft worth of water resistance, I don’t think I’d take it for a swim either.

With kind regards to the premium watch brands that continue to inspire us, our eyes lean towards the affordables that are interesting in their own right. Wheat husk strap - The comfort and look of a traditional resin strap but crafted with a bio-based wheat fibre creating a smaller carbon footprint. Keep that in mind so you aren’t turning your nose up at a perfectly good quartz-powered chronograph that would fit your wrist perfectly. You will find things like the Invicta 90242-002, the Seiko 5 SNK809 ( read our review), and dozens of other options (the vast majority of which fall into “fashion watch” territory).

And while this piece doesn’t have an exterior bezel, it does feature a black tachymeter surrounding the white dial under the glass. It also features a date window at the 4 o’clock position, a timelessly cool Indiglo backlight, and it’s available in several colorways. One could argue that the crown of chronographs for small wrists belongs to Zenith, and the Revival El Primero A3817 is the prime example. You can purchase this versatile watch just by saving a little portion of the money that u might've spent by going to McDonald's with your friends and having some Fast-food! However, the 21-millimeter strap width and the insanely short lugs allow for a very comfortable fit on thinner wrists.
