About this deal

Liberate yourself from the numerically-bound parameter editing that's typical on a DAW; you'll enjoy truly musical inspiration as you train your ears and concentrate on what your fingertips are doing. Don't miss the experience of music that's driven by your instinct.

The Korg SQ-1 2x8 Analog Step Sequencer is a compact and versatile tool for musicians and electronic music producers. With its 2 x 8 step configuration, this step sequencer offers a wealth of creative possibilities. Designed to be compatible with a range of synthesizers, including the iconic MS-20, as well as vintage analog synths and modern compact units, the SQ-1 allows you to take control of your sound with ease.

In the event that Third Party Software is supplied, you agree to be bound by and to observe any terms and conditions relating to the use of such Third Party Software. Featuring a variety of sequencer modes, this step sequencer gives you the freedom to experiment and create unique performances. The step buttons allow for intuitive and spontaneous control, making it a perfect companion for live performances or studio sessions. Contents of owner’s manuals and content as found on korg.com may differ. Information on korg.com may be updated as necessary based on changes to the product specification, operating system, included contents, and so on. Additionally, owner’s manuals may be updated to reflect these and other changes with updated production of the product. When the classic MS-20 analog synthesizer appeared in 1978, it had a trusted partner in the SQ-10 step sequencer. Now, after thirty years, the MS-20 has been reborn, and the SQ-10 has evolved into the more modern SQ-1.

I can’t think of an option that isn’t catered for here. That just about covers it for getting up and running, so how about the fun stuff? Well, you choose a pattern, of which there are 64 user-saveable (same for songs, or projects, as Korg calls them), set a pattern length, rotation …and get sequencing! Nothing in this agreement shall affect the statutory rights of any person dealing with Korg as a consumer. A very decent upgrade with genuinely pro features, that cements its position in the top handful of mini keyboard controllers available. Admittedly it’d take up rather a lot of value hp but it could be worth it, as the hub of a system. That said, it’s small and portable, so gigging with it may never be a concern. Also the performance controls taken from the Volca range are a godsend for spicing up sequences and live shows, so you can use Step Jump to instantly trigger steps manually, Active Step to change the length of sequences, Gate on/off to add/remove steps and Slide mode for smooth transitions between notes and 303-style workouts.Korg provides no warranty in relation to any Third Party Software supplied and all warranties whether express or implied as to the condition, quality, performance, merchantability or fitness for purpose of the Third Party Software or any part of the same are (in so far as may be permitted by law) hereby excluded. The Korg MS20 rides again... again! The latest version takes the form of an expanded desktop module with accompanying sequencer. All references to the Licensed Program shall mean the object code only of the program(s) comprising the Licensed Program. All things considered, the SQ-1's power really impresses for the money, though it misses swing and song mode, plus there's no apparent way to transpose or store favourite sequences currently (all software updateable hopefully). The joy of this sequencer is that as well as the basics like setting pitches, bridging notes and sliding notes, you have more advanced options to really make your music the way you want.
