About this deal

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate. Marissa asks Matt why he gave Skip an fake alibi for Tina’s murder. She admits cheating on Matt with Skip. The authors’ use of a “therapist” (in quotations for good reason) as the truth seeker is a clever device. The story has twists and turns until the end, and the characterization is very good. I would love to see this turn into a series — Avery is a very compelling and unique character. It’s a character-driven story, with two POVs. Avery Chambers is an unorthodox therapist who recently lost her professional license after being reported to the governing ethics committee for using unsanctioned methods. Nonetheless, she has excellent results and thereby many clients. She begins the story, introducing the reader to Marissa Bishop. Marissa has hired her because she is fearing the state of her marriage, after cheating on her husband, Matthew. Marissa and Matthew are known as the golden couple in that they appear to be perfect in every way. Perfection is always fodder for a great story. it's still fun to read these goofy psych suspense books where all the characters are dialed up to 10 on the drama scale and married couples are so full of secrets.

When the book was coming to an end I knew what was going to happen, but here I was, being my stupid self again, hoping I was wrong... One of PopSugar’s 66 Thrillers That Will Give You Goosebumps, Best New Books of 2022 So Far, and 35 I'm the number one New York Times bestselling co-author of THE WIFE BETWEEN US, AN ANONYMOUS GIRL, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and THE GOLDEN COUPLE. I liked that aspect of the story. I was less sure about the Acelia subplot, which did add some suspense to the story but also left me with a lot of questions. How did Acelia know that Avery was the anonymous whistleblower, yet be completely unaware that she got the information from Finley, her client? I wish the Tina murder had been better incorporated into the plot. I told you that I would fight as long as I could, and that offer still stands. But I need you to know that I am running out of fight. Bryce said” during this report you will find out that Bryce is insanely sweet and he has a really big struggle. Cancer. Bryce Harrison and Sophie Allen are the golden couple at their school. During the time Bryce starts getting headaches and finds out that he has brain cancer. Overall, This book is really good. When Bryce is sweet the reader has an awww moment and when reading about his struggle with cancer the reader begins to feel for him. Whether he got good news from the doctor and the reader was happy, or he got bad news from the doctor and the reader was sad.

this story has all the makings of a captivating mystery. the writing is easy to devour, the pacing is on point, and the characters are the right amount of relatable mixed with suspicious. i found the weaving of the both womens POVs to be highly effective. with marissa, i was dying for her to spill her secrets. with avery, i was so engaged with her investigating the truth. its the perfect combination of discovering information, but also having secrets keep you on the edge of your seat.

First off, I am BEYOND happy I gave this writing duo another shot, and I can't stress that enough. I had VERY strong feelings about The Wife Between Us, and they were not positive feelings. I remember almost tossing my e-reader in frustration at the time because things were so OTT in that book, at least for me, and I was pretty sure they weren't the writers for me. I really liked this! The story kept me on the edge of my seat and there weren’t really any moments where I rolled my eyes and thought “this wouldn’t happen” so I take that as a win! Strong characters I received a digital and audio copy of this book via NetGalley. The narrators of the audio were excellentUnfortunately, the problems these women think they are facing are just the tip of the iceberg. The secrets lying just beneath the surface mean it’s not only the Bishops marriage that needs saving, but also Avery and Marissa’s lives…

This book was too sad, like it was way too sad but it was amazing and I enjoyed even though it broke my heart. This isn’t quite 5 stars because I would’ve liked to see Sophie completely happy, like with her new partner and her new life. After hearing about Chambers successes from a friend, Marissa Bishop seeks out Avery's services. She needs help repairing her damaged relationship with her husband, Matthew. What a great mystery! Everybody is a potential target and no one knows why until the very end. Marissa and Matthew Bishop go to marital counseling after she commits adultery with one of their longtime friends. They know their new counselor, Avery, lost her license to do therapy but she was recommended by a friend. Marissa thinks that Matt is ashamed of him, but it seems more likely that Matt knows that Chris knows he’s a murderer. When he comes to fix the Bishops’ car, he makes a remark about cleaning up other people’s messes. But then theres’s the weird incident with Bennett and Chris and the knife. Was Chris the one who reported Avery to the authorities for her involvement in Paul’s death? So many questions and I want to know what YOU think! Avery is a therapist who doesn't follow the rules, which is why Avery lost her license five months ago. Her style is more unconventional "anti-therapy".definitely the best book to come from these ladies so far. fans of domestic mysteries/thrillers will for sure want to add this to their TBR, without a doubt.

Marissa and Matthew seem to have it all. Money, looks, brains, and a son they adore. Until Marissa makes an appointment with a therapist, one who has lost her license but still runs an in-demand business. Avery follows her own rules, but she can almost guarantee results if you adhere to her program. While Marissa's confession may mean the end of her marriage, Avery senses more going on between these two than just infidelity.

I was so bored while reading this. I was just waiting and waiting and waiting for something to happen. When something finally happened, I was let down. It was what I guessed early on, and the way it played out was anticlimactic. I wish this had been more nuanced and the side plots simplified.
