Still, I had such a clear idea of how I wanted this book to look with only legs and feet, that I jumped at the chance. With bouncy, upbeat rhymes and colorful, imaginative illustrations kids will want to jump up and move their feet to their own beat. Not only are many types of “feet” and “shoes” mentioned, which represent different age groups, styles and activities, but there are drops-in words from a variety of languages that we might hear on a city street.These are the stories that brought me to writing for kidlit and I would love to see little Latinxers and other kids with intersectional identities finding themselves in my books. As if that weren't enough, Aixa Perez-Prado serves up both lush illustration and language making City Feet an absolute pleasure as a read aloud with the dual benefit of working wonderfully as a bedtime book.
