These are my thoughts and opinions on the Duo Soft Golf balls and how they compare to other options in the same price range. The compression rating of 38 places the Supersoft in the lower spectrum of softness but still harder than the Wilson Duo. The low drag and low spin generate a penetrating flight and high trajectory. Suggest when you test each ball, add a robotic driver hit at 90-95 mph (not pro-level but above my 80-85 mph driver speed at 77 years old). All things being equal, it may eliminate the need to state that “ball that’s not particularly well suited for higher swing-speed golfers”. With my swing speed typically between 100 and 105 MPH, I found the DUO Soft+ to be decent in terms of ball speed but not exceptional. I didn’t feel that I was losing anything with this ball, but I didn’t see anything to indicate ball speed gains either. Generally, the Triad is best for swing speeds under 105 MPH (most people) while the Staff is for speeds over 105 MPH (mostly tour-level players). The Staff was way too firm for me but I really liked the way the Triad felt. This is Wilson’s middle-of-the-range ball and is one of the best golf balls for mid handicappers. The reason is because of the cheaper price tag, and the reduced compression, and as a result, you won’t need to swing the club as fast. Soft feel golf balls tend to have a lower spin for more accuracy and longer distance. To achieve this, manufacturers tend to soften the core to increase the soft feel while adding a thin ionomer layer to increase the feel around the green. It’s also worth stating again that I’m a fairly low spin player, and your results may vary.
