In this two film collection witness Art cut his way through the inhabitants of small town America one by one. You might not faint or vomit, but it's certainly not a case that the horror sequel has been oversold. When he debuted his 2012 feature debut Antiviral, however, the quality of the film was a secondary topic; first and foremost he was compared to his famous father, David Cronenberg. So not only was the son contending with the legacy of his famous father, they were both in the public eye with the same actor at the same time.Aside from the impressive practical effects, it's so over-the-top that horror fans can probably take it as obviously fake. In the film’s gently futuristic world, the public’s obsession with celebrity has been taken to extreme new lengths, including the collection of celebrity diseases for injection, and incubation in their most ardent fans. David Cronenberg is currently in post-production on new genre film The Shrouds, which begs the question: where will his and Brandon’s work go in the future and (how) will they continue to engage each other in cinematic conversation? If you can handle this, you can handle pretty much the rest of Terrifier 2, including various decapitations, stabbings, the odd bit of cannibalism and, on one occasion, a man being painfully separated from his penis. The Little Pale Girl – who Leone refers to as “the embodiment of evil that has resurrected Art the Clown”– was initially envisioned as a “little girl from the ’60s in a yellow sundress with flowers on it and maybe a flower behind her ear.

The Clown Cafe scene culminates with Sienna reaching into a cereal box and pulling out the sword her father gifted to her, which she proceeds to use to fight back against Art and his makeshift flamethrower. For the week that ended on December 31st, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Halloween Ends finally took the top spot on the Blu-ray-only chart from Paramount Home Media Distribution's Top Gun: Maverick, ending the sequel's eight weeks in a row on top of that . And because of that, he was also channeling the bad force that was coming in; the evil entity that was gonna be the counterpart to that good.That changed on Halloween 2017 – the year before filming started – when Leone was tagged by various fans in homemade Art costumes on Instagram. Leone also points out that the character’s teeth are switched – the upper teeth are on the bottom and vice versa – to add to the unease. There’s a obvious level of cynicism involved whenever a celebrity’s child enters the same field (let’s all agree to bury the term “nepo baby” and move on with our lives). While he maintains a bit of mystique regarding the character, Leone seems to confirm that he is not Art. This article contains spoilers for the film, but you also may want to avoid it if you want to go into Terrifier 3 completely blind, as Leone reveals several hints at where the story is going.

The worst, and hardest-to-watch, death comes roughly an hour into the sequel as Art targets a friend of the main character Sienna (Lauren LaVera). For those unfamiliar, The 9th Circle marked the first appearance of Art the Clown (then played by Mike Giannelli). With an appetite for murder and mayhem, Art sets his sights on a bereaved family, in particular teenage Sienna and her younger brother Jonathan. Between Sienna seeing Art for the first time, Indiegogo backers as extras, gratuitous tommy gun blasts, and fire stunts, The Clown Cafe scene is one of the movie’s biggest – and one Leone’s favorite – set pieces. While I didn’t enjoy Terrifier 2 very much myself (you can read my 4/10 review HERE), I have been very glad to see an unrated horror movie having so much success in theatres.Cinedigm will release a standard retail 4K Blu-ray SteelBook Edition of Damien Leone's Terrifier 2 (2022), starring David Howard Thornton, Lauren LaVera, Elliott Fullam, Felissa Rose, and Samantha Scaffidi. The blossoming contusion on Syd’s arm where Levine takes a skin sample is evocative of eXistenZ diseased game pod, while Syd’s physical degradation, including his reliance on a cane, brings to mind Seth Brundle ( Jeff Goldblum)’s transformation in The Fly.
