i will say the ending kind of did have me blushing a little 🫣 so yes im aware im part of the problem. but i would recommend this to anyone who just wants a cowboy romance and does not want to think AT ALL, like brain is empty af. Something that bothered me a lot about her is the amount of toxic ideas she has about what masculinity is, she explicitly says that Rhett's hands are masculine because they are calloused and not soft, like those of other boys in her city, that some even liked to get manicures. Or that only Rhett could make jewelry look masculine, jewelry is genderless, stupid retrograde and sexist bitch. And… in case it sounds sweet and emotional, that’s because it is. BUT it wouldn’t be an Elsie book without the steam, and Jasper? You are not ready for Jasper. Trust me. You. Are. Not! If you want to write a book on character development, Sloane would have to be there. The person she is when the book starts is not the same at the end—her heart is still the same, though, and it’s a big one. I really liked the tension in this one. Not only were they from different worlds, but also there was a forbidden piece due to their professional relationship. It was good. Summer Hamilton is a very relatable character. People pleaser, happy to take care of others, sacrificing what she wants. The more the story went on, the more you understood why she made the choices she did. I love the way Summer and Rhett fell for each other, and the reasons for their attraction to the other. As I finsished the book I let out a big sigh, thought, “I wish that was a movie” and said “now that is a classic romance.” Elsie Silver has become a must read author for me with this one novel! It all started with their sweet little 'nothing just friends' friendship. They had this honesty thing which was really endearing and to see how they both just stay and listen to each other's truth and pain without any judgement, except that honesty never worked when they had to talk about their feelings.

Also, I gotta shoutout the dads in this book. Kip and Harvey were just the most precious, most adoring kind. the fact that he was celibate and worked on himself during their 18 months separation because he wanted to be worthy of her 😋 Summer was an interesting character too. She has just started working for her dad after graduating from Law school, and is determined to prove her worthiness as an employee to her dad. Winter: "I resent myself, because what is it about me that is so profoundly unloveable? I feel like I'm on a constant mission to figure that one thing out." On a real note, as a personally “grumpy” person who sometimes just needs a hug to be reminded things are okay , I related so heavily to winter and felt so seen throughout her character in the book. Loved her + seeing her open up and receiving the love she deserves!!
