About this deal

In Highbell, people sometimes traveled for weeks just to look at me. Midas would let me stand beside him in the throne room as they gawked. But no matter how long I stood there on the pedestal for them to look, no one really saw me. If they did, they’d know I’m just a girl with jagged rips and pitted holes inside of her, with golden skin hiding a broken heart. To give you a taste of the story, I'll try my best to summarize it in a way that is not very spoiler-y. I can’t wait to see the rest of you. When you let it go, when you finally let that out, your fury is going to light up the spirit you’ve shadowed.” He looks like someone who’s won, boasting in superiority. “I hope you burn so bright that you scorch your Golden King down to ash.” The author’s favourite book in the series is Gleam, the third book because it was the most difficult to write. There are of course the other three kingdoms but I have no idea what they're famous for because I either forgot or it wasn't mentioned.

He’s sinister and powerful and entirely too seductive. I’ve learned my lesson with trusting manipulative kings, so why does my chest constrict every time he’s near? I need to tread carefully, or I’m at risk of losing much more than just my freedom. GLINT was a GREAT book. It hit all my favorite spots in romantic fantasy: a compelling romance with leads I can actually root for - independent of their romance and within it - a circle of friends, banter, action, political intrigue, and a strong voice.

More about Dueling Book

The thing about being confined is that you believe it’s to keep the bad out... Until you realize it’s about keeping you in. Perfectly shows how many subtleties an abusive relationship has through the rose-colored lens of the victim. How can he easily use her, and tries to maintain her trust at bay through sweet nothings, how he mantains her hooked in that draining relationship through intermittent affection and their past memories as his lover and savior, how manipulative he can be, and how unbalanced the relationship is in terms of power. A perfect representation of a toxic relationship that never feels romanticized but realistic. And that’s what makes my eyes sting with regret. He pushed me to light, to burn, only to douse me with ashen deceit. SO. Read it. It’s much different than the first one, but not in a bad way. Just different. In an excellent way, tbh. I’m pleased. For ten years, I’ve lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas’s golden castle. But one night changed everything.

The side characters were fantastic. I just have no rants or complain for that, especially Sail and Digby, they were flawless. Though Rip is basically the mmc in this series, but considering how late he came in this book, I don't appreciate that 😡 I mean in my country we have this saying that says "pahlawan kesiangan" which literally translates to "hero that came late" and I couldn't unsee him as that 😭 but honestly I couldn't review him since nothing really happened yet with him and I couldn't get to read his character deeply. so he's just Pahlawan Kesiangan for now LMAO 💀💀 If you've been waiting for the romance to reach its peak then you won't be disappointed, I promise you!Book 3 of this adult fantasy series continues in this epic story inspired by the myth of King Midas, fae, fated romance, and insurmountable greed. In the last book, Auren was just starting to realize who she was and that she deserved better, and she had started to develop budding feelings for the man who made her realize that worth. Those feelings were delicate, and so the sense of deep betrayal she felt (though overblown) was completely understandable when she discovered he'd withheld information and she found herself in the web of another king. I can't wait to see the rest of you. When you let it go, when you finally let that out, your fury is going to light up the spirit you've shadowed." He looks like someone who's won, boasting in superiority. "I hope you burn so bright that you scorch your Golden King down to ash." With all that out of the way, the ending has me excited for the next book and I've heard that it's much better than the first. So far I don't see how this is for fans of JLA/SJM but I can see where this is going in the next few books for it to be targeted towards fans of those two authors.👀 Also Slade having a brother??? A brother who this whole time was the one disguised as fake Rip?? I never would've imagined. I already love Ryatt from the few interactions I read and I definitely need more of him in the next book(s)👀
