About this deal

This is the main reason beginner guitarists use capos. It’s so awesome. (Watch my video later in this lesson to see examples of this in action.) There is the regular capo, the heritage capo, the strap capo, the spider capo, and the list goes on. Each one has its own specialty at which it excels, with the spider capo being particularly good at creating very specific tunings based on particular chords. While they’re significantly more expensive than the previous capos we’ve seen…users will tell you that they’re well-worth the added cost. Shubb Capo – BEST Options Just make sure you DON'T buy imitations, you will most likely get ripped off with something that doesn't work or at best have a greatly inferior product.

G7th Capo was first built in 2004. You may consider this design to be revolutionary as it works by pinching. Making it very easy to move up and down the fretboard. And that’s pretty much the brunt of how you make a spider capo to your liking. That said, there are some minor details that I think are worth looking into. I’ll probably show you some of the more common tunings to use as well.Primarily a guitar capo is used for changing the key of your instrument. For example, if you place a capo on the second fret of your guitar and play the chord shape that would ordinarily be an open E major, you’ll now be playing an F# major instead. This can be really useful when working with different singers, as they may need the pitch of the song changed to match their respective vocal range. Partial capos are fantastic for making the guitar world accessible to people with disabilities. (They make it possible to play chords with one finger and even no fingers.) Ease-of-use – Takes two hands for altering and repositioning. Altering the screw is not the smoothest process. This can be a problem when all eyes are on you whilst on stage. This could leave you with poorly set tensions and awkward breaks during live performances Yes, there are several types. When you know how to use a capo, you can use them all. (They all work on the same principle.) I can’t sing as high as John Fogerty, so I have to lower the key of ‘Bad Moon Rising’ when I sing it.

But if we move two columns to the right, you’ll see ‘D’. This means that if the capo was on the 2nd fret and you held a C shape, you would actually be playing a D chord. Another important rating for this capo apart from handling and quality is what use it has for the musician. Its taken me a while to get my head around using this capo as I haven't really understood what it can do until now. Apparently you can do lots of flash stuff either side of it around the 5th fret, but I'm not in to technical prowess playing so I didn't get very far with it at first. Consequently, for some time I didn't know what use I was going to have for this capo so I left it in the drawer.

Spider Capo Open Tuning Capo Overview

If they were, they wouldn’t sound that good. This is something Paul David talked about extensively in his video on why John Frusciante tuned his guitar weirdly for a particular song. Very recently though, I found myself needing to work around E minor open tuning for one of my songs to introduce more overtones on some of the chords, but I don't like to tune strings higher because of string breakage and I didn't want to detune to D minor. So I tried the Spider capo and found that I was able to combine an Eminor open string sound and revert to some of my regular chords when I wanted to as well. This has enabled me to get the best of both worlds (EADGBE and EBEGBE) for this particular song and I wouldn't have discovered this if I had not got this capo as an additional part of my kit.
