About this deal

Where does In Her Rooms stand in relation to today’s mainstream representation of womanhood? And i s there a specific reason why you chose female nudes over other ways of representing women? In addition to bringing stylistic and cultural expansiveness, Nude also attempts to broaden the narrative around the artistic nude by incorporating transgender bodies – their presence in the show lends all of the exhibition’s photos a degree of ambiguity. With nude models stripped of many of the signifiers denoting queerness or heteronormativity, it can be hard to tell the trans from the cis, the queer from the straight. And while it is true that some of the individuals in Nude, such as those photographed by Japanese artist Momo Okabe, “look trans” due to their combinations of genitalia and secondary sex characteristics, most of the photos in Nude are not so easily read as anything other than human. I want to see moms, housewives, athletes go, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe she looks like that. She’s 60. I can do that too,'” the retired point guard and former WNBA and NBA coach said. “It’s important to take care of yourself.” My Body My Choice” was not a show about abortion rights: Amer tells me that she used the phrase “to speak about the right of women to use their body freely and not let society, culture, religion or advertising agencies use it and speak on their behalf.” Nevertheless, one of her key concerns is to offer a visible corrective to complacency. “The fight for women’s liberation that we are engaged in today is the same as that of older generations,” she says. “We need to always remember what our elders fought for and not let their battles go to waste, because history repeats itself.”

Israel-Hamas war LIVE: Israeli airstrikes destroy 300 targets in Gaza and Lebanon overnight as WHO warns of 'imminent public health catastrophe' The women agreed that they weren't embarrassed to get naked as they regularly see each other in the shower (pictured, one of last year's snaps) In The Tub of 1886, the position of the woman, the still life with the toiletries, the false perspective and the overhang make this pastel one of the most masterful nude compositions of Degas’ work and of the period. Paul CézanneSchiele’s nudes are linked to psychoanalysis, which was taking off at that time. The naked body is the vehicle for the artist’s existential anguish. His subjects convey the duality of the body, both a source of sexual impulses and a symbol of death. At the beginning of the 20th century, Schiele was described as a pornographer, a psychopath and even a demon because of his nudes, which were considered to be far too scandalous… Otto Dix

Would you say that In Her Rooms could encourage people to work on the relationship they have with their own body, ideas, and personality – hence inspiring people to use their quarantine to rediscover themselves – by celebrating the stories and the personalities that are hidden within the walls of those girls’ bedrooms? Bringing together 30 artists from 20 different countries who are shooting portraits all over the world, Nude offers a global perspective on the human form. Among other things, this broad cultural range lets the the exhibition wrestle with the question of how the meaning of a woman taking a nude portrait differs from society to society, as well as how the female gaze changes from one context to another.

In 1863, with his two paintings Olympia and Déjeuner sur l’herbe, Edouard Manet radically rejected the academic norms of the time. The Modern painter wanted to represent the reality of his time: Olympia is a prostitute, and not a mythological goddess or a nymph. He painted this reality without trying to idealize it. However, in the mid-19th century, depicting a nude was only permissible if situated in an exotic or mythological space. Here, the nude woman is strongly individualized and provocative. She stares at the viewer: it is this direct gaze and expression of indifference that causes a scandal. In the academic paintings, the naked female figures are “surprised”, as if somebody has walked in on her in the nude. Ultimately, they do not show themselves voluntarily naked. However, Olympia contradicts this idea. Edgar Degas

Ravishing vixen provides a lot to fantasize about as she stretches her hot legs and exposes her hairy pussy With the advent of feminism, female artists turned the tables on tradition in the later decades of the 20th Century, painting male subjects as the subject of the female gaze. This painting came in the same year that the Australian magazine Cleo included its first ever male centrefold, and it is representative of a bigger shift in the nude more generally. “Sylvia Sleigh was forthright in saying she wanted to paint sexy men for women to look at, but the painting isn’t leering,” Panton says. “It’s tender and warm, and reflects the fact Sylvia knew this man”: the musician Paul Rosano, who posed for Sleigh on more than one occasion. “Her affection for him and her enjoyment of how he looks is apparent especially in the body hair, which she renders stroke by stroke,” he adds. Endearing vixen gets out of lingerie and shows off her feminine curves while temptingly posing outdoors Would queer viewers looking at these artworks when they were first created have seen this connotation despite Below, we speak with Maria Clara Macrì about the importance of countering the mainstream representation of women, the phenomenon of female migration, and the relevance that In Her Rooms has for everyone going through social isolation.I’m so proud of every single muscle of my body,” said Davidsdottir, a two-time CrossFit Games champion. “I had to work for it. I had to earn that. They don’t just show up.” Is it sensuality the focus of her representation of the naked female figure, or is it vulnerability or truth or another Jean-Honoré Fragonard painted great landscapes, religious and mythological paintings. Yet he is considered the painter of frivolity and Rococo. The Shirt Removed from 1770 is undoubtedly one of the artist’s most iconic and sensual works. In the center, a naked woman lies down and a “putto”, a servant of the goddess Venus, removes her blouse. The painting presents a daring subject, even if the closed eyes and the half-turned body evoke a certain modesty. Here, the nude is sublimated by the white, gray and pink colors that highlight the young skin of this woman. Moving away from mythological and historical subjects, Fragonard revolutionized the genre in creating these intimate and frivolous nude paintings. 4. Romanticism and Realism: The Nude in total rupture

Top class charmer Brianna vivaciously exhibits her petite body in lingerie before unveiling her erogenous zones in Stretching Her Out 1 Maria Clara Macrì: Although today the diverse faces of womanhood are being more often recognised and represented in the media, the mainstream conception of women’s image is still dominated by sexualising and objectifying portrayals of the female body. I believe this to be strictly linked to the mentality that lies behind the production of such images, which is largely subordinate to the logic of marketing and profit. In Her Rooms has recently attracted more attention, and I think that that is because the goal of this series was not to sell a product. The project was not inspired by a personal economic gain but by the empathy and solidarity I felt towards all women in the world. The series was born by the passion I put into strongly believing that it is time to finally witness the liberation of women’s bodies and identities. In Her Rooms is a cultural experiment where women are photographed not to please the market, but to raise public awareness of the beauty that characterises every human being. It is interesting to compare these two frescoes. Masolino’s Eden is idyllic, Adam and Eve are beautiful and bright. Conversely, in Masaccio’s, Adam and Eve are being terrorized. The difference in the representation of the nude, idealized for one and realistic for the other, highlights the condition of man before and after committing the first sin. 2. Renaissance: Revealing the body In both Evelyn’s representations of Clytie and The Sea Maidens, the femininity, strength and allegorical and literary significance of these figures is often discussed but when their nakedness is alluded to it is often distanced from any mention of sensuality or sexuality.
