There is a vast amount of bouldering within the Burbage Valley area. The Burbage South Valley boulders are home to a great mix of problems, with nothing too high and predominantly good landings its the perfect location for beginners to gain confidence bouldering outdoors. You will get more out of your time with us if you work in a group where the numbers suit the activity. This poll and my earlier one are merely attempts to get a slightly more quantitative feel to some of the ideas/issues than the many threads of comments/opinions - not sure it's worked but I thought it was worth trying anyway. Padley/Yarncliffe, Froggatt, Curbar Edge and Field, Baslow, Gardoms, Birchen, Chatsworth Edge, Dobb Edge That’s what we specialise in! Just get in touch and we will happily tailor an itinerary to suit your requirements.High Neb is the second-most popular area, a little longer walk but plenty of classics thoughout the grade spectrum. Another location within Burbage with lower grades is Haggar Tor. For bouldering newbies, it's a great place to practice landings more than solving problems. It offers low-level difficulty with lower probability of problematic landings. Just make sure your pads are in place and you bring a spotter along! Climbing Mount Everest without legs, is a feat that has never even been attempted to date. In accomplishing this challenge, Hari hopes to: Wow - we are super excited and honored to be hosting two truly inspirational characters for our first Winter Lecture of the season - Hari Budha Magar and Krish Thapa as they share their incredible story on how they plan to conquer Everest next year.

Another visitor to our shores this winter was Adam Ondra, who managed to sync his visit with what seemed like the only week of sustained good weather of winter 2023. Thankfully it wasn't all YouTube content generation, and some climbing occurred. Although sadly missing out on the flash of the classic The Traverse (7a+) by virtue of not matching the arête at the end (sorry, but rules is rules) no such fate awaited him on The Ace and the problem saw its first flash, cheered on by Jerry, no less. The amazing part of this however isn't really that he flashed it; it is relatively basic afterall and he's the greatest climber to ever walk the earth. It's more that with the wealth of homegrown talent and strength in our ranks these days nobody else had beaten him to it in the 20-odd years since the problem was put up. What have all the strong kids being playing at? We clearly need a few more to quit the competition scene! This is the last post (sorry, we missed 2 days which is why we are stopping at 10!) in our series which we hope has provided some interesting information and highlighted some key safety points to help you in your climbing this year Further Info– Paid parking is at The Plantation or there is limited free parking at Stanage Far Right with an approx 20 mins walk (see below). Postcode S32 1BR gets you close to Stanage Edge. On public transport grab a bus (from Sheffield) or a train (from Manchester or Sheffield) to Hathersage, and thumb a lift or walk (approx 2 miles). There are toilets near to the car park. Although the change in weather means we get to use the tower less over winter, we still have plenty of climbing sessions available over the winter that we can run in our indoor centre! The best the UK has to offer for mere mortals (apart from the lakes cos its always wet) 299 problems
