About this deal

Perhaps you’d feel differently. If you want to give Valentino’s series a try, I would recommend trying one of her other titles first ( Beast?). Mother Knows Best is a psychological thriller about a controversial scientific experiment that involves genetically modifying an embryo to eliminate genetic mutations by creating a three-parent baby. The entire fifth-grade class participated in a genetic experiment through the company MapMyDNA. Each person spit into a tube and received a report of their inherited traits, like whether they had detached earlobes or could taste bitter flavors. We felt cornered into letting her participate. It was easier than answering the questions that would follow, but the test came and went without a hitch."

Book Review: Mother Knows Best Disney Book Review: Mother Knows Best

The suspense of Claire and her new husband’s life is good. Claire essentially lives in hiding because her face was plastered everywhere when the story came out. When Abby turns 11, she starts to get curious about her ancestry, and, as part of a class project, she and Claire agree to test their DNA. What Claire has been keeping secret leaks out to the very worst person possible. Throughout this story the author had me laughing and crying while keeping me guessing until the very end.

This is a nice read, even if not really my style. I highly recommend if you like a mix of mystery and with lots of laughs. There was historical moment where few scientists created baby in a petri dish and even though at the time, it was an immoral experiment, nowadays IVF is one of the preferable methods for people who failed to conceive naturally. One might think this experiment and success of IVF should be expanded and we choose all favorable genes for future generation creating perfect children for tomorrow - where does this genetic modification end? Is there any moral compass to measure the happiness a child brings to people who might have lost all the hopes? A mother’s worst nightmare, a chance at redemption, and a deadly secret that haunts a family across the generations. So instead, Claire seeks out an experimental doctor that is using cutting edge science to prevent hereditary conditions via mitochondria. Instead of having 2 parents, Claire and Ethan’s baby will have 3. And since Ethan is against this type of experiment, Claire lies to him. Whatever it takes to get her baby, right? Mother Knows Best by Kira Peikoff is a unique, original and thought provoking novel that I thoroughly enjoyed!

This was a totally unique thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed in audiobook form. You have to get past a little bit of initial skepticism about the premise — which I won’t spoil, but which has to do with genetic modification. There was suspense at every turn and starts out with the small family at the heart of the book on the run from a mysterious person for unknown reasons. There’s a lot of honest emotion here about Claire’s struggles losing a young child to a rare genetic condition, and finally having another child who contains a multitude of secrets that Claire has to protect from the world. Everything about the plot is ridiculously funny. Margie’s husband is probably gay; her daughter wants to be a dog and spends a lot of time outside in her doghouse, growling and barking; her mother is a health nut and insists that the whole family eats green smoothies and kale omelets; Margie and Peaches just can’t seem to run an effective investigation to save their lives; and the victim is found in a truly unbelievable and x rated, unique situation. MOTHER KNOWS BEST is definitely not for the faint of heart, the easily offended, or anyone who doesn’t enjoy laughing so hard that coffee comes out of their nose. Yet somehow, through all the bumbling, the girls manage to uncover enough real information to nab the murderer and save their own skins from being arrested for everything from interfering with a crime scene to absconding with someone’s mail. What. * screams, tears out hair, bites off fingers, hits head into the wall* How HOW THE HELL did I get accepted for an ARC of this? * walks into the ocean while staring at the horizon and drowns. The end.* This book put me in a confused state, saliva dripping down my mouth agape, a horrified expression on my face as if I recently watched Cardi B’s running for vice presidency speech with the support of Bernie’s team ( so you can imagine, it was ten times more terrifying than watching Jordan Peele’s horror movies) Claire and Ethan Abrams lost their first child Colton at eight years old from a degenerative disease caused by faulty mitochondria, the energy driving components of our cells. They would dearly love to have another child but while Ethan is prepared to take a chance that another child would not be as badly affected, Claire doesn't think she could go through watching another child suffer and die. As the genetic material in mitochondria is only passed on from the mother, she also knows she is responsible for passing on this disease. When she hears of a team of IVF specialists working on an experimental new technique that involves transferring combining mitochondria from a healthy donor into an embryo (known as three parent IVF) she thinks that might be the answer to their prayers. Although the technique is illegal and she knows her husband, a professor of bioethics, would never approve of it, she offers herself as a guinea pig to the IVF team. However, just before her baby is due, news of what they have done is reported to the FDA, leading to the IVF team being charged and Claire fleeing into hiding.

This is book #2 of the Margie Peterson series. It's hilarious! I loved it! Margie was an ordinary housewife until she decided she needed a job and got one as a P.I. working for Peaches at Peachtree Investigations.

Here's my issues, yes typing this review this sounds like a crazy and fun story. FOr the most part it is, but for some reason this time around Margie is driving me crazy, She wants to stay in her marriage due to the kids but does not see the damage her kids are suffering, second her mood and attitude about her daughters issues are driving me again crazy. Yes she is only 6, but I feel she was not really helping the situation as she thought lets bury it under the rug and pretend to be happy and the kids will be okay. Um not working their Margie. I realize i may be a little critical on Margie, but the different situations her daughter gets into and how Margie reacts I am just like banging my head on wall. I get that this situation is extremely difficult, but Margie your so much better and stronger than this. My other issue is theirs hints of a new romantic interest for Margie and she isn't even divorced or know what she is doing yet. Margie gotta love herself first. Also got to point out as healthy concious her mother is I do seem to like her mom. I think she is a good addition and may talk some reason into Margie. The latest addition to this hilarious series will not disappoint fans of Margie and Peaches. Karen MacInerney is at her outrageous best with a series that feels like Lucy and Ethyl meet the cozy mystery genre, with more than a tad of naughty thrown in for fun. The Odd Sisters: A Villains Novel Source Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch is the fifth installment in Serena Valentino's Disney Villains series. It focuses on Mother Gothel from Disney's Tangled. If you enjoy funny situations and characters, who are trying really hard to get through each day, this is definitely the series for you. I recommend you start with the first book of the series (Mother's Day Out) which introduces the characters and why they are where they are in their lives. It is well worth your time. This depicts certain scenes from the movie that were somewhat altered with the Odd Sisters in them, showing that this Tangled version is set in some alternate reality. As I read this book, I could easily see it as a TV Show, a dramedy like The Mysteries of Laura or Monk. It has the kind of action and insanity that would work perfectly on TV. I wasn't planning to read this at all. But after I got copy from netgalley, I gave cursory glance at opening chapter and I was hooked. 5 hours later, I finished the entire book in single sitting.
