About this deal

Scout became friends with Finn, but Finn had ulterior motives and was lying to Scout and Willa for most of the movie. The romance was sweet and it was nice to see who these characters ended connecting with the previous characters. I have seen the Hallmark movie last year and kind of knew what to expect here. The book actually reads exactly like a Hallmark Christmas movie. I didn’t expect to find that I liked the movie more than the book, though. Somehow Scout’s story was thrown under for the average romance with single mom whose son recently recovered from Leukemia and a man trying to find out what happened before his father died. Just as I thought watching Christmas films are over, only the real Christmas is what left to enjoy, I came across with this film. This is a last moment review written in the week of Christmas eve. The reason I liked was, it is another Christmas film based on the book of the same name. I think Hallmark should adapt books more often. The original screenplays are almost nothing. No innovation, not interesting enough. But literature based films like this makes a lot sense to watch. With an artistic presentation, the depth in characters and events, the story is well convincing. Talking about the filming process, Autumn Reeser (Willa) told Starry Mag, “We shot on this horse farm and it was really quaint. We had a lot of fake snow to make it look as Christmas as possible. I liked it because I didn’t have to be as cold as I usually am.” British Columbia is frequently used in Hallmark movies. The shooting usually takes place in summer, despite most of them being Christmas movies. The cast and crew put in maximal effort to tap into the wintry and magical vibe Christmas usually emanates because of the fact that these movies are produced way ahead of the holiday season. A Bramble House Christmas Cast

This movie is also a winner because it has multiple storylines going on – it isn’t all just the Willa and Finn relationship. There’s also: As they get to know each other, Finn casually interrogates both Willa and Scout about their lives, all the while concealing his true identity from them. Ultimately, Scout got his Christmas wish – to stay at Bramble House as long as possible. But it almost didn’t happen because of Finn. That’s exactly what the man’s now-grown children, whom he abandoned when they were quite young, want to know in the 2017 Hallmark film “A Bramble House Christmas”. ‘Twas “A Bramble House Christmas”

What do you do when you’ve been given a second chance at life and you don’t know what to do with it?” Her character is all over the place. In the beginning, it’s all “Finn angry!” while Molly’s like, “chill, dude, we were never going to be in the will anyway.” I think I connect with the characters better when they are a creative type and so I like that he's a book illustrator and how that channels the story. Review originally posted at Snowbound in Montana and loved it! A Bramble House Christmas was even more magical -- set in the Bramble house B&B in the heart of Marietta. I loved the traditional Christmas activities (sledding, pond skating, strolling through down the main drag) and the coziness of the B&B. Usually I'm not a huge fan of books with babies and kids but this one was so well done!! Finn and Willa really got to know each other over the course of the book and everything felt right. All I can say is that I wish Marietta existed and that I could spend Christmas there!!

A Bramble House Christmas' is not a Christmas classic, but seeing it the amount of effort that went into it was more than evident throughout. Hallmark's Christmas output has been very variable, the best ones being surprisingly well done and the worst being terrible. 'A Bramble House Christmas' in many ways is one of their overall best, with almost everything done remarkably well and only a couple of things done imperfectly which was not unexpected in a way. Have never expected much originality from Hallmark, and attempts at doing something different were quite rare. 'A Bramble House Christmas' is not much of an exception, with the story being yet another variation on a very familiar and still done to death (for Hallmark) formula. So story-wise it is rather predictable with some slow spots here and there. We have this love story surrounded by the ever-present warmth of Marietta and all of the ongoing characters. There are questions about an old rumored affair, a secretive Santa, and a little boy with the strength and heart to bring all of them together in the end.The final scene, of the cast all together around the Christmas tree, is also a winner – as is the fade out on that childhood picture of Mr. Conrad hanging on the wall. You’ll Cry… ?

Molly reveals that she and Finn are the children of Greg Conrad, whom she was the caretaker for – and Molly has rescued the injunction, which was amazingly still pristine fresh out of the trash. Finn and his sister Molly (Julia Benson) have a strong but unproven belief that the young and pretty caregiver Willa is a gold digger and that she somehow stole their own deserved inheritance from their estranged father's estate. Willa and her son Scout have traveled to Marietta, Montana to stay at the lovely bed and breakfast called the Bramble House for the three weeks before Christmas. Willa is a nurse who had a very generous patient leave the prepaid trip, a ring and fifty thousand dollars to her in his will after he passed away. Her son Scout had just beaten cancer so she felt the two needed the getaway to help Scout feel normal again. I would say that this is the best book of the series which is kinda of sad, because it leaves us with questions unanswered which annoyed me. Willa, a single mother and her young boy is all set to enjoy their Christmas in the Bramble house BnB. On the other side of the tale, Finn disappointed with his father who had died weeks ago, left nothing to him, but for a stranger, Willa. So he decides to find out the reason and confront her with a legal option. Now, on the eve of the Christmas week, they meet at the Bramble house and develop an unexpected relationship with mother and son. Once the truth ready to get out, what happens and how the story would end was told quite nicely.

Throughout my whole Christmas film completest quest undertaken since late 2019, an interesting quest but very mixed one, there was never the mentality of expecting a classic or the film in question to be flawless. Something that was never managed with Hallmark's output. There was however always the expectation of seeing a film where one can see at least some effort rather than merely cash-in level. One could see that with enough of Hallmark's output but not all. If I had to fault the plot for something, it would be that the reason that Finn's dad abandoned his kids was kind of unbelievable. So, his dad was a workaholic, and he felt his kids would be better off if he left, thereby freeing Finn's mom to marry someone who would be a real father to them? That just seems nonsensical. Give the dad some real motivation for leaving, such as alcoholism. That would make more sense. Also, at the end of the dad's life, when it was clear from his conversations with his nurse Willa that he loved his children and had a lot of regrets about leaving them, why didn't he make any effort to reconcile with them? Why didn't Willa encourage him to do so? The man was dying, after all. There needed to be a credible explanation for that, also, and none was given. I haven't read the book that this movie was based on, but I suspect that some of these details were dealt with better in the book and were lost in translation to the screen. Overall, this was a great Hallmark movie. There was a clear theme of second chances, which materialized in multiple ways:

Christmas is always a very touching time of year for many and I will be honest, this touched me and there were times I had to give into a fist full of tissues but it was worth the moments when the tears appeared.

? The WORST List ?

Then after the inevitable confrontation, suddenly Molly is totally convinced she was wrong about Willa (because Willa cried and said so and stormed out of the room?). For Mable ( Teryl Rothery) and Ken ( Andrew Airlie), who get a second (or 22nd) chance despite her stubbornness. All of the actors turned in strong performances. Reeser and Haydn-Jones had good chemistry together. While this clearly used a variation on the Hallmark Christmas movie formula, it was a fairly unique spin. It definitely didn’t feel like the plot we’ve seen in at five other movies over the years. ❤️ These Characters Such a beautiful story in a beautiful setting. Marietta and it's small town charm really makes me want to head somewhere on a Christmas trip of my own. Scout and his story would bring tears to my eyes thinking how the little guy had fought so hard and just wanted to be a normal kid. Also couldn't help but feel for Willa and her over protectiveness with Scout, how much she had gone through with him just pulls at the heartstrings. Finn was also a wonderful man who adored children and even when learning the truth didn't run from Scout the way his own father had.
