About this deal

I found that the messages held more power than the characters delivering them—the sum was definitely greater than its parts.

We huddled together under a fleece blanket we found under the seats, our bare shoulders touching each other. This was not quite as traumatising as its prequel, We Were Liars, for me personally, but still displayed a focus on a wide array of issues, interspersed with scenes of summer fun and how the white and wealthy live. The blurb on the back didn’t tell me anything about the plot and everything I knew was that “We Were Liars” had apparently won the YA Goodreads Choice Award in 2014. This book doesn’t have a jaw dropping twist but it’s a sensitive psychological and realistic fiction that portraits an unforgettable dysfunctional family.

She is one of the Sinclairs, a good-looking "old-money Democrat" family, think the Kennedys, without the political aspirations. There are references to old New England families and their wealth, as well as the fact that Harris Sinclair, like many wealthy Democrats, voted for Barack Obama in both presidential elections. I think this definitely had big boots to fill since the massive success and re-emergence of We Were Liars recently, but I can honestly say that I think this book did an amazing job of holding up itself regardless. E. Lockhart wrote the New York Times bestseller We Were Liars and the upcoming Genuine Fraud, a psychological thriller.Of course there are plenty of hints, but will you be able to figure them out or will you be in the dark until the end? She learns that years earlier, Ed had proposed to Carrie but that Carrie had refused, fearing that she would lose her inheritance if she married an Indian man.

this novel has a twist that you wont see coming, but you will try to convince yourself that you did. Of course I won't reveal the twists and turns of the cunning plot, but I can say that when the secret at the heart of the book is finally revealed, it turns out to be nastier and more shocking than anything I had imagined. Caroline’s painful face surgery that reshaped her bone structure heals with the help of drugs but Caroline’s addiction to those pills gets out of control, resulting with stealing her parents’ pills to sleep tight at the night. The Liars are composed of her cousins Mirren, Johnny, and the outcast "Healthcliff," Indian love interest, Gat. It doesn’t matter if divorce shreds the muscles of our hearts so that they will hardly beat without a struggle.

You should absolutely go in blind, with no expectations and let this book take your feels as it sees fit. At the end of that summer, she has an accident, a breakdown or some kind of illness, but she can't remember what happened, how or why. These wealthy New Englanders have the privilege of retreating from the world to their own private Beechwood Island. And indeed she does, but her story soon descends into much murkier waters, eyeing its teenage protagonist with a twisted smile and a tragic sense of the pain wrought by selfish, self-absorbed adolescents.

No matter where we go, we will always be able to line up on the roof of Cuddledown and gaze at the sea. After reading and being unimpressed by WE WERE LIARS, I thought I probably wouldn't continue with the Taft-Sinclair family and their WASP-y adventures.
