I’m eyeing the Series 7 but wondering if you think it’ll be updated soon (next couple of months, perhaps? You really don’t need a Series 9 Pro for shaving a very light beard and I think the Series 5 or 8 will suffice. Hi, an important point to mention is that the new 5 and 7 models lost the attached side trimmer and now you must detache the main shaver head by pulling ( no more ejection buttons) and replace it with a trimmer head… These are very bad “improvements”!

When the shaving head wears out and needs to be replaced, it’s usually a gradual process and the shaves get progressively poor.But if you want that worry gone for good, you can also get the new Series 7, even though the older one was in my opinion a better shaver in all regards. It does so via the two metal studs on the back of the shaver that come into contact with two small metal plates inside the station. However, other models are actually available for purchase as well in the USA, including the original 83 variations.

Braun shavers usually don’t perform significantly better when used with shaving cream and in most cases it’s not really worth all the hassle of lathering, cleaning and so on. Even so, I think the Series 8 would definitely be a suitable choice for men with irritation-prone skin.Thats probably also the only reason they put one in here, since it really should not be required for a shaver. For example, only specific Series 9 solo models (93xxs and 94xxs) will work with a specific station, while none of the old Series 5 will pair with a station. Panasonic’s super complex flexing shaving heads for example are just annoying and only look good in the specs sheet. But it is surprisingly good for a cheap foil shaver, reasonably comfortable and the replacement heads are cheap. So if you own an 83 s shaver, that’s the original S8 station that will only charge and clean your shaver.

Again, whenever I mention Series 7, I am actually referring to the old (discontinued) Series 7, not the new Series 7 360 Flex. The cleaning stations of the Series 8 and 9 look exactly the same on the outside, but the one of the Series 9 is heavier and all of them are fitted with a fan that dries the shaving head once the cleaning cycle has been completed.Then there’s the coarseness of the hair, the density, the frequency of shaving and how long it takes to complete the shave.

The three cutters can also move independently and that really helps them stay in contact with the skin, even when shaving tricky areas.For me personally it would still not be worth it over the Series 7 — I would pay more for a shaver that in my case works noticeably better.
