About this deal

Two years later, Sennheiser introduced the MD 421 dynamic microphone, which is still in production today and still held in high esteem by many sound engineers. The sound quality of the Sennheiser HD25 headphones is one of the better-known features among professionals. I read your review on the Aedle headphones and I’m very interested in purchasing a pair, however I’m cnsidering the AKG K3003, have you tried these? Light on accessories—an extra cable with phone controls would've made this a more versatile purchase. I also wonder what you would recommend otherwise, as well as if I should invest in IEM or headphones?

I think if you’re new to headphones, the K3003 is probably going to be easier to appreciate than the Aedle. Supra-aural is just a fancy way of saying these are headphones that perch on the listener’s ears rather than completely enclosing them.Although longevity and extremely robust construction are important, you also need to get the style right. Comfortable, premium-feel open-backed cans with a natural sound, super-wide stereo image and replaceable components. They are fine up to the 3-4 hour mark but you would want to take a break for 15 minutes or so before continuing. These headphones are designed to be a workhorse earphone mainly for DJing and monitoring purposes and in such scenarios, headphones get a lot more use time than a standard consumer headphone.

Its not techno festival level boom of course, but its the kind of boom that is clearly defined and as long as you A / B with other source material (as with any headphones) you know well ….The Sennheiser HD25 headset comes with a powerful and wide frequency range of between 16Hz to 22kHz, so you should expect an accurate monitoring experience. If the bottom is rolled off on like in in say country music and 70's pop, you hear just that, no exaggeration in the low end.

The cable connections at the earcup can begin losing contact, and you’ll need to bend the contact surface back into place with a needle. A removable cable (with no phone controls) detaches from both ears—so the user chooses which earcup is left and which is right. This is part of what makes the Sennheiser HD25 such an iconic headset for DJs, even if it’s less popular and well-known in the standard audio world.

Everything is just in your face with a huge unnatural bass that is super hyped and not accurate at all.

This modular aspect to the design helps enhance the HD 25’s longevity and is something I’d like to see more manufacturers start offering. This pressure can also result in rather sweaty ears, particularly if you find yourself on the London Underground during a September heatwave. We mixed basic projects in a range of genres from orchestral to EDM via rock and country, and the results were encouraging when we played them back on a range of systems including a premium in-car system, an Apple iPhone 11 speaker and a JBL portable bluetooth speaker.
