About this deal

The only time the National Service of Remembrance has not been broadcast was during the suspension of programmes for World War Two.

The March Past is one of the fixtures of the Remembrance Day service and is also organised through the Royal British Legion. Be mindful - People have different opinions, some might not be as dedicated to the wearing of poppies to commemorate days of remembrance, while others may even regard it as a politicised relic. The time and date are significant as WW1 ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. BRF | Leading Christian charity enabling ministry and mission

The history of the world is littered with wars and whatever your opinion as to the best way to deal with this – be it as a pacifist or a believer in a just war – innocent people suffer and young soldiers are killed in action. Additionally, we launched a virtual Field of Remembrance, where supporters virtually added Tributes from the comfort of their homes to remember the fallen. Starting at 11am, the service will commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts. The award-winning ‘Thank You’ campaign paid tribute to the 1,223 Coventry soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. The Battle of Mametz Wood, 1916, saw the 38th (Welsh) Division attack the dense woodland in northern France on the edge of the Somme, a key strategic ground.

On 11 November 1920, the body of the Unknown Warrior was drawn through the streets of London to the newly unveiled, permanent Cenotaph. France, Great Britain and Germany signed an armistice at 5am on a train in the Forest of Compiegne in France - an agreement to end conflict between them. Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. Such windows into the multi-cultural and international practice of Christianity in today’s world are a vital resource to give us a true picture of what it means to be a global Christian in the 21st century. In total, there were 17 million deaths and 21 million wounded on both sides, a figure that significantly dwarfed those of previous wars in Europe.

Your generous donation will be used to ensure the memory of our Defence Forces and what they have done for us, and what they continue to do for our freedom remains – today and into the future. Sixty years ago, the last of two million young British men finished their two years' of National Service conscription. As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.It was awarded to mothers and widows (next of kin) of Canadian soldiers who died on active duty or whose death was consequently attributed to such duty. Place a small amount of glue using a glue stick into the centre of each circle and stick them on top of one another. The Service at the Cenotaph was also attended by The Princess of Wales, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent. That is the moment I realised theuniversality of remembrance and the shared global understanding of organisations like RBL. We unite across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.
