About this deal

If you have two matching assets, or any asset and a wild card (Gold or Silver), you may play them face-up in your asset stack. The scoring of cards at the end of each round is boring (especially at the lower player counts as each player has so much more to count) and I wish there was a more elegant way of doing it. With this action you can form a set by combining a card from your hand with one or more matching cards from the three draft piles. The game is primarily designed for four to six players but there are good variations for two or three players. You’ll also get table talk where people tell you to steal from someone else, which is generally amusing.Cover Your Assets is a quick-to-learn, quick-to-play card game that does not, I repeat, does NOT have anything to do with sets or runs. Once you have at least one set of assets in your stack, you may attempt to steal assets from any player with two sets of assets in their stack. Your first pair is safe and cannot be stolen; any stacks that are covered by other stacks are also safe .

Your opponents are building up little nest eggs as well, and while that’s all well and good, you’d much rather their things be … well, your things. Discard and draw: If a player can’t or doesn’t want to do any of the above actions, they must discard a card from their hand to the discard pile and then draw a new card from the draw pile. In Cover Your Assets, players compete to become the first millionaire by building towers of matching sets made from 10 different types of asset cards (things like jewels, piggy banks, classic autos, and more). The top set of assets in your pile is vulnerable, and can be stolen by other players if they show you a matching asset card, or wild (which are Silver and Gold cards) from their hand. Be careful though - your top set of assets can be stolen by other players - if they hold a matching card or wild card.

The winner of the challenge takes all cards used in the challenge and combines them with the asset pile, making a huge (and valuable) set of assets that they place on top of their pile. Once the draw pile is exhausted and everyone has played or discarded all of their cards, the round is over and you add up all of your assets. Once the last card has been played, players add up the total face value of their cards and mark it on a sheet. Either way, I’ve had fun with Cover Your Assets, and if you’re looking for a quick family game, you enjoy acquiring stolen wealth, or you’re just here for some take-that in a fun setting, this one might be for you! As a board gamer, I love finding that sweet spot where a game is easy to teach and play with a new group, yet still provides enough strategy and fun to keep me interested and coming back for more.

The first of which is forming a set by pairing two cards from your hand, pairing a card from your hand and the top card of the discard pile, or pairing cards by using one of the wild cards (silver or gold). If you cannot make a pair or challenge, then you would need to discard a card from your hand into the discard pile. Once the draw pile is empty, players continue taking turns until everyone has played all cards from their hands. If more than one player hits that mark at the end of a round, the player with the highest total wins. You can get all of your stuff stolen by other players without much of a way to defend yourself, so if everyone decides that you’re losing this round, you’re most likely losing this round.

After the draw pile is emptied, players continue playing in the same manner just without the ability to replenish their hand. A pair of assets consists of either TWO identical asset cards, or by pairing ONE asset card with ONE wild card (gold and silver) tucked behind it.
