About this deal

This compact handheld is our cheapest model that covers the military airband channels as well as the civil airband. After installing the driver the scanner should be listed as either a BC125 or UBC125 in the Windows device manager. I have just purchased this new scanner and connected it to a Sky Scan Mobile Desktop All Round Scanner Aerial Antenna 25-2000MHz RX 95mm and can pick up London control but cannot pick up Birmingham airport and I live in Kidderminster which is much closer to Birmingham. In general, I've found it to be excellent for the purpose and so sensitive that it does well on the rubber duck when in the open air. In addition to all the features on the unit, there is optional software available for PC programming.

You can also track an aircraft on your computer or smartphone while using your scanner to listen in. If you leave the Squelch turned up then you will hear the background noise and the scanner will stop on that channel and will not scan. grp group file can be shared with the new ProgBC Uniden Programmer to program Uniden DMA scanners (BCT15(X), UBC3500XLT etc) with the same group profiles. The scanner seems nice, but I have to say that I am a bit put out at having paid for a product, I am directed in the instructions to download paid software to go with it. If you are using a trunktracking system you will need to make sure you choose the tower closest to you and get the control and alternate frequencies which are highlighted in red and blue.

Some of the bands covered by scanners are: Aircraft, Marine, Amateur Radio, Taxis, 2-way radios, Motor Sport, etc. Uniden creates another first with the SDS100 True I/Q Scanner, the first scanner to incorporate Software Defined Radio technology to provide incredible digital performance in even the most challenging RF environments. At the top of the page it will tell you what system they are using such as Motorolla, P25 and so on.

Covering air, marine, VHF public services as well as normal FM radio broadcasts this scanner is fast becoming as popular as it's predecessor. This allows fast and intuitive access to the many interesting pre-programmed frequencies - ensuring the user is up and scanning as quickly as possible.

Dynamic memory is far superior and people just need to learn to use it, cos it's much easier once you know how. With banks, I'd have to either turn off all of amateur, or turn off the simplex channels which would be in their own bank. It's so much better than banks, because I have for example the amateur system, which contains different groups: 70cm repeater, 70cm simplex, 2m repeaters, 2m simplex. This antenna is for "Wide Band" performance and does NOT narrow down to certain bands, This antenna works well for the Air band and more. An updated 230, with optional memory systems (two sets of firmware - you decide whether to have Dynamic Memory or conventional banks) with the full 2500 memories and Mil Air would have been brilliant.

I'm very tempted to go for it, as I don't want to limit my reception just yet, as I do listen to some other channels outside of airband. It's the PC connection and alpha tagging that makes it all so useful, but I wonder how many people use more than 10 Systems or muck about with turning Groups on and off? Of course if you only have an old Serial port then you will need a serial to USB converter which will still enumerate as a COMn port and my program will happily work in this scenario. There are many posts from EU users on various forums stating that the driver won't install, this is because the XLT/AT drivers are different.Replacing the popular EZI33XLT, this pocket sized handheld scanner receiver from Uniden is designed especially for the airband or marine enthusiast. People usually use scanners at UK airshows to listen in on the control tower and the pilots so that they know what is happening and when the aircraft are about to display.

If you want to listen to military aircraft transmissions then you will need a scanner that has a frequency range of 225-400MHz. For other reading this thread listners132 COM port could have simply been that my program requires you to select the "correct" com port AND have already installed the drivers. I have seen that Uniden provide software for the US version, the bc125AT, but I read that this was not compatible with the European version of the scanner.I would have expected at least light version of some software that I could use to programme the scanner. Ideal for listening to the communication from Civil Air traffic Control, Boats, truckers operating on CB radio, Ham Radio/Amateur Operators, Sporting events, Churches and Mosques etc. After you enter in frequency you will push yes key and if you have another frequency then scroll down to new channel, push yes. The idea is that you could fill a Bank with specific frequencies for a particular airshow and just scan the Channels in that Bank. If your area is not using a trunk tracking system you will see them on the first page with the frequency all the way to the left and to the right side it will show FM or FMN which means they are conventional frequencies.
