About this deal

Both brands of mold putty claim that they can be used with chocolate, food, wax, soap, polymer clay, ice, and even resin.

This amazing mould putty can be put in the freezer without losing flexibility and resists temperatures as high as 230°C.

Again, this utilizing someone’s sculpture but I only made them for myself, not selling commercially. If it does, I would not recommend making the mould until you have either completely coated the original to protect the putty from the surface or simply choose type of master to test and then mould. Silicone Plastique® is Outstanding to Make Molds For: Chocolate, Butter, Fondant, Ice Cream, Pulled Sugar, Cheese, Ice, Gelatin, Hard Candy, Gum Paste, Pastillage, Royal Icing, Candy Clay, Butter Cream, Marzipan, Sherbet, Sorbet. Hi George, I have used Sculpey (the original) to take impressions and then used Amazing Mold Putty on the raw clay to make a texture sheet.

Applications include making fast mold impressions from almost any surface, orthotics / orthopedic, equine hoof repair, jewellery making ,Sugarcraft and more. I’d just like to affirm that Amazing Mold Putty (the yellow stuff) won’t set up if you mold it around Kato Polyclay or rubber stamps. I think Kato clay is an extremely smooth surface after curing, and it created the most smooth molds. Start to gently toss the silicone mass in the starch, keeping the fingers (of gloved hand) covered in corn starch.Y ou have 10-15 minutes working time before Silicone Plastique begins to set - then allow an hour (at warm room temperature) for it to cure time.

Now, I’ve only used them for textures and molds for pc so I really appreciate the discussion on resins, in case I ever want to try it out. Silicone Plastique has a work time of about 10 minutes and a cure time of about an hour at room temperature. You have to make a little container around whatever you’re molding to keep the liquid from running all over and you want whatever you’re molding to be fairly level. Reasons given are ease of use, high quality from a platinum based curing system and the peace of mind that comes from using a product that is not harmful, toxic or emits dangerous fumes. You want to make sure that the mold putty does not stay stuck to the original shape after it has cured.

Great care must be taken when handling and mixing all addition-cured silicone elastomer systems, that all the mixing tools (vessels and spatulas) are clean and constructed in materials which do not interfere with the curing mechanism, do not use wood and paper mixing utensils. Silicone Plastique® is Perfect For These Non-Food Mold Making Applications: Wax, Clay, Polymer Clay, Plaster, Melt and Pour Soap, Precious Metal Clay, Cold and Hot Processed Soap, Casting Resin, Candles, Cold Porcelain, Plastic, Cement, Hot Glue, Low Melt Metals and More! I still end up with a couple little bubbles, but they’re from mixing air into the liquid, not a chemical reaction.

The Amazing Mold Putty is a very good insulator of heat, so it is highly recommended to preheat your mould as you preheat your oven to provide a more even bake process when baking food. After curing, I found that both putties created an excellent mold which faithfully reproduced fine detail. Once mixed, Silicone Plastique will stay workable for about 15 minutes giving ample time to make an accurate and well-made mould of almost any object. Before you start making the putty it is best to get the item ready for the mold putty since it teds to stiffen quickly.
