About this deal

This book was not what I was expecting and maybe my expectations were too high after loving every single book of this series, but I definitely imagined something different for Ziggy. ughdhkdjf don’t even get me started on mr. sebastian himself. I LOVE EMOTIONALLY CONSTIPATED BROKEN MEN??? he’s just so good but so full of self-loathing it was heartbreaking to read. and the way ziggy constantly saw through his bad-boy-don’t-give-a-shit front and made him realize that he is so much more than what he thinks of himself? i want to die.

He's been going through so much that I just want to give him a hug. The way he took his time to be better with Ziggy. He really made sure to love himself enough to love her. I had the busiest week this week, one that mentally drained me, which affected my reading throughout it all and I was desperately craving a story to escape into, to lose myself in. Seb needs to rehab his reputation. I want to give mine an edge. So I propose a fake friendship with real benefits: spending time in the public eye, my good-girl image and his bad-boy notoriety rubbing off on each other. He’s my devious, dark-haired fantasy come to life, but his destructive ways make it easy to keep him in the (fake) friend zone. Or so I thought, until I start to see the heart of gold he’s been hiding beneath that sinister surface… As usual, the author has great neurodivergent and chronic illness rep. We saw in Always Only You how Ziggy struggled in school until she was able to start getting the help she needed once she was diagnosed with autism. Seeing her out on her own using her coping skills made my heart warm because I feel like we've grown with her from the start of this series. I liked seeing how Sebastian coped with his celiac disease diagnosis. As a professional athlete, he was afraid of how his life would change with the newfound diagnosis. I loved that Ziggy was 1000% supportive of the diagnosis by helping him navigate a new diet and meal prep techniques! The way both the protagonists were obsessed with each other. Their thoughts and acts were always orbiting to one another, noticing every detail even the insignificant ones and in how they always were aware of the mood’s shifts of each other, how their relationship was mined by disinterested acts and word of affirmation was the most precious part of the storyline. Both of them thought they weren’t enough to bloom the friendship into more and it honestly wasn’t an annoying redundancy thought or aspect of their story because the characters development was tightly mangled to it and was to say the least, perfectly pulled. To be completely truthful, I was kind of disappointed with this one.. Maybe it's because I was expecting more..

This was probably the slowest burn out of all the authors books, but I think it was necessary. Sebastian didn't come from a big, loving family like Ziggy did. He needed to appreciate having a friends like Ziggy and her crew before he could feel like he was worthy of a romantic relationship with her. Likewise, Ziggy's growth was phenomenal. I loved seeing her stand up for herself. Finally getting her POV also helped you see that Ziggy is not nearly as innocent as we thought she was! Because of Frankie’s nearly ubiquitous presence in If Only You, I can only rate this novel 1.9/5 stars. ziggy my baby. she’s come so far from the shy timid girl she was first introduced as earlier in the series. i loved seeing her grow and flourish. and i loved how sebastian saw her for who she truly was even when her own family didn’t, and reaffirmed and helped her in so many way to stand her own.In conclusion, if you haven't read any of the Bergman Brothers series and met these adorable family members, you are missing out on a lot! So, yeah, Chloe Liese has become an auto-read author for me, and I can’t wait to read Viggo’s story and the second Wilmot sister book. And meanwhile, I still have the first four Bergman Brother stories waiting for me on my ereader. Thankfully, Ziggy offers him a solution - they will pretend to be friends, and in doing so, Sebastian can prove that he is not the villain that people believe him to be, and Ziggy can finally get the public attention she desires. But as they spend more time together, Ziggy realizes that Sebastian is not the self-absorbed jerk that everyone thinks. He has his own demons to confront and a troubled past filled with abandonment and abuse. He just needs someone to believe in him, and Ziggy becomes that person.

This was one of my anticipated reads for 2023 and I still don't really know how I feel tbh. I adore Ziggy and am so glad she got her HEA, but this felt less like a romance read and more like a bff book - maybe 🤔 Caring. Trying. It makes me feel like I’ve unzipped my skin and let it drop to a puddle at my feet, leaving me unnaturally, terribly exposed I could gush about this book all day, but the one thing I always say about a Chloe Liese book is that I feel like I came home at the end of it. The Bergman family is not perfect, but they are so supportive of each other and their partners. Seeing Sebastian basically be adopted by the Bergman clan, and watching his relationship with Ziggy flourish, warmed my heart to no end! Thank you so much, Chloe, for writing this, from someone with a quite messy brain and a very sensitive upset stomach <3 I also really appreciated that while both main characters were queer, it was never a topic of discussion. It was just one line for each where their sexuality was stated, and no one was every questioned or had to explain themselves, and that was wonderful and so causal and it's how I hoped it always went (this also goes for all the queer rep throughout this entire book, and not just the main characters)The Bergman Brothers series is one of my favorites and I was so excited to get to the youngest Bergman sibling (Ziggy’s) book. This was such a beautiful slow burn romance. I loved both Ziggy and Sebastian.
