About this deal

It’s an entry-level home espresso machine with a stainless steel boiler. It brews single or double espressos and has DeLonghi’s Cappuccino Milk System. You can use your own preferred coffee grounds when brewing one or two shots or else you can use ESE pods. The filters storage is convenient and well placed with the water tank. Twin brewing cycle Make a strong espresso with rich crema (however I should admit the Saeco Poemia is better in terms of crema) The coffee machine features a stainless steel boiler system and includes a 15-bar pressure pump, which is rather powerful. It pushes hot water through the ground coffee for the best flavor extraction.

And you shouldn’t have an excuse when cleaning is as easy as with the ECP3420. It’s hard to find a machine that’s easier to clean. I wouldn’t recommend Saeco/Gaggia (too small boiler for cappuccino making, they are better for espressos), Breville/Sage (costs more than your budget + problems with spare parts on the long distance), Ariete (cheaper sub brand of Delonghi, boiler is made of aluminium instead of steel + weak panarello for only cappuccino drinker) or any OEM Chineese espresso makers like Excelvan, Swan, Hailton Beach etc (low durability, cheap material used). Just make sure, prior to purchasing any machine, that the wand is well-built and can produce the amount of steam needed to make your special beverages. Compared to high-end espresso makers, it only holds roughly 37 ounces or 4.5 cups. You’ll need to replenish it twice a week, but that’s still good enough. There is a detachable water tank that is simple to replenish. What I don’t like: The descaling process is a little intense, and there’s no dedicated cleaning cycle for the machine, so you need to do it manually. How easy is it to use?Speaking of the detachable drip tray, it comes in useful for catching hot water and espresso when used as intended. At some point, most espresso machines are bound to drip. This is particularly true if you want the stainless steel or white aluminum color options, where any stains would be quite noticeable. Warranty What I like: This espresso maker is powerful for its size and price. It is capable of producing a quality espresso with enough patience and practice. Speaking of that removable drip tray, it’s also handy for doing what it’s designed to do – catch espresso and hot water. The portafilter comes with 2 filters for making a single or double espresso shot (or 2 single at a time). For easy identification, these filters come with special markings. They feature images of one and 2 scoops respectively. Milk frother Now, as all of us coffee lovers know? there are different brands and different espresso makers, which can make a world of a difference. In this, one of the best brands in the industry today is DeLonghi, and this DeLonghi ECP3420 review will show you exactly why.

Can we really forget about the taste of espresso? After all, the entire goal of an espresso machine is to produce the richest and creamiest shot of espresso. But to be honest, DeLonghi machines are pretty easy to understand. And once you have the basics, the rest is just practice. Despite using a cheap material for design, this machine isn’t fragile. It’s quite sturdy and reliable. This DeLonghi model allows using a water filter. This eliminates the need for regular machine descaling. If no filter is used, the manufacturer recommends carrying out this procedure after 200 cups of coffee made. Use a special descaling solution and follow the instruction manual about how to perform the cleanup. You might not be familiar with ESE pods if this is your first experience with an espresso machine. If you don’t feel like grinding your own espresso beans, ESE pods work like the espresso equivalent of a tea bag. Pod compatibility for ESE

New! ECP3120. New variation is announced on the North American market. If compared to all other Delonghi ECP models the ECP3120 is the simpliest one – full plastic body (except for the grouphead), simple panarello wand w/o hot milk mode and no double drip tray (see above). However, there are no taste differences.

The Delonghi ECP is an effort to make a cheap coffee maker with metal/semimetal body, which still can deliver good espresso. Plus some bugs fixed if compared to older models. Plus some advanced functions for cappuccino lovers. It is a successor of older Delonghi EC155/156 model. If you need more machines to review, read the post that describes top coffee machines with milk frother. You will find numerous models from various manufacturers that offer an incredible design and extreme functionality in each device. As described earlier, DeLonghi is an entry-level semi-automatic machine that stands out among its competitors because of its simple but innovative design, great built-in features, high-quality technology, preparing delicious coffee, and, most importantly, budget-friendly. For that reason, I’d recommend this to someone looking for a decent entry into home espresso. I probably wouldn’t recommend it to a casual coffee drinker who wants an espresso every now and then. If you prefer milk-based coffee beverages, the frothing system is another function to master. Rotate the main dial to the “Steam” position. Insert a frothing wand into the cup with cold milk. For your convenience, the wand can be pivoted. Turn the knob on the right side of the machine and froth the milk until the consistency you like.

You can’t get a perfect Espresso and Cappuccino machine for less than 500 dollars. But I must if you are on a budget then there is no better option than this. For the US/Canada market, Delonghi produces three slightly different models. Or six if you count color variations. The main difference between North American and European versions is that all American ECPs are equipped with ‘double drip tray’ system, the same ‘innovation’ that earlier was introduced on the Dedica Deluxe espresso maker:

Typically, these machines are designed from cheaper and smaller materials, resulting in smaller water tanks. Now, for some people, they might not care about smaller water tanks. The frothing wand can easily be detached and cleaned after each use. Its nozzle gets milk remnants that should be removed. Wash it under a faucet with warm water. The other thing you’ll need to do is descale your machine. Descaling is the process of removing mineral buildup throughout the pipes and inner workings of a coffee machine. First off, it should come as no surprise that this espresso maker has 15 bars of pressure to produce excellent espresso. Most of the manual espresso machines from DeLonghi run at pressures between 9 and 15 bars, which is the norm for pump espresso machines. If your family members prefer tea to coffee, the machine can deliver hot water for their non-caffeine beverages. Advantages and Disadvantages
