About this deal

When you’re on-set you can’t afford to come away with clipped or faint audio. The M4 records in 32-bit float, allowing you to capture perfect audio in any situation without the need to set gain. Serious videographers use timecode to keep their audio and video perfectly in sync. The M4’s built-in timecode generator has professional grade .2 ppm accuracy. THE INS AND OUTS

The onboard stereo pair gives a very nice signal, but you want to be right on top of it. Shove it right up in their faces. Even a couple feet away and things drop off significantly. This is actually a big plus for an interview mic. Just don't be shy with it. Combine the audio recorded with the internal X/Y microphones with two external microphones to give your videos studio-quality sound regardless of the environment. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. The M4 sports a 3.5mm headphone output for real-time monitoring, a mono speaker, a 3.5mm stereo line output, and it has a full-color LCD display for adjusting and monitoring your recordings. The M4 can run on four AA batteries for up to 18 hours of continuous operation as well as USB-C bus power and the optional Zoom AD-17 AC adapter (sold separately). The unit is of a tough polymer construction and looks to be robust enough and keeps the M4 lightweight, which is important for a handheld unit of this type.

Combine audio captured by the onboard X/Y mics with two additional external microphones to give your videos studio-quality sound in any environment. WAV WATCHING Save time in post production by using the on board NORMALIZE function to automatically raise or lower the volume of your recording to the optimal level without compressing the audio. MONITORING CAPABILITY It would have been really nice to see a stereo 3.5mm line input (as seen on the Zoom H1n), to give the M2 the option of using lavalier or low noise, plug-in-powered (PiP) microphones. For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered bit recording is an incredible format. In theory, it provides a far, far greater dynamic range than you’ll ever need, so peaking and digital ‘overs’ are a thing of the past — in fact, Zoom’s 32-bit products don’t even come with gain controls. Control your M4 from up to 5 meters away with the Zoom RC4 (sold separately). 32-BIT FLOAT AUDIO INTERFACE On set, you can’t risk working with audio that is overdriven or too quiet. The M4 records with 32-bit float, which allows you to record audio perfectly in any situation, even without clipping.

Other useful features include the ability to prerecord for up to 6 seconds and you can also remote control the M4 using the optional RC4. Elastically suspended microphones and attenuating housing coating to reduce handling noise during recording Filmmakers can use the two XLR inputs for dialogue, while using the X/Y mics to record ambience. In post, your recordings can easily be synced to video, thanks to the M4’s onboard timecode generator. You can also save time in post-production by using the onboard NORMALIZE function to automatically raise or lower the volume of your recording to the optimal level without compressing the audio. For my particular project, I needed to record the sound of coins moving and sliding like they would in Smaug’s dragon hoard. I decided to treat the M4 with no mercy — just ‘point and shoot’, without any precautions to ensure the recording quality. I set up in the middle of my lounge room with the coins piled on a towel, and I didn’t even bother to switch off the heater fan, so I knew there was a risk of sound contamination. Designed with musicians and videographers in mind, the M4 features an onboard timecode generator. Timecode generators are used to keep audio and visuals perfectly in sync, so you get professional results without having to re-align each file when it comes to post production. The M4 deliver pin-point accuracy with prof-grade .2ppm accuracy. For field recording purposes, low sensitivity microphones are not ideal for recording quieter sounds and will accentuate the hissing self-noise of the device. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.
