You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Apply the first coat of finish, and wait for it to fully dry based on the manufacturers instructions. I have heard that denibbing is a good thing to do after each coat of finish so I wanted to get some advice on where to get the pads from and what sort of grits? You can use a high grit abrasive paper like 240, 320, 400, 500, 600 grit – it doesn’t really matter - any of those will do the job – if you use a lower grit like 240 you’ll do a little bit less work but your finish will be less smooth, if you use a higher 600 grit you’ll do a little more work but have smoother finish. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag.

You might notice at this point that the finish looks really bad, I might look dull, dusty or kind of murky, but don’t worry about that, because the next coat of finish is going to make it look beautiful again!I like the finest of the paint sanding sponges as they'll handle eased edges, curves and flat surfaces. You don't need to go over the same area any more than once or twice, it should feel smooth after one or two light passes. The Farécla Denibbing block has a removable 35mm interface pad allowing firm pressure to be applied if necessary. It really depends of what type of de-nibbing you're doing, if it's specks of dust trapped in Osmo or Danish Oil or a wiping varnish then that's all you need.

There was a problem with item description, In uploaded description it said paint size 8oz, I received 4oz and also said it had masking tape. uk/products/rupes-ibrid-de-nibbing-discs 5463230054556 Rupes Ibrid De-Nibbing Discs 35mm (Pack of 10) 3. The Finishing Pad should also be used when you have applied your last coat of finish to finish the job off feeling extra smooth. As I haven't done this before I presume that you just run a cloth or pad of sorts over the finish gently to give the silky smooth finish?

Mirka Mirlon Denibbing pads are a cost effective, and economical alternative to steel wool (they are sometimes referred to as synthetic steel wool), abrasive cloth and abrasive papers. These are a 30mm abrasive veclro backed sanding block, ideal for removing small imperfections from paintwork when you need to do a small localised repair, such as a localised deep scratch or flattening back paint after a stone chip repair. But if it's removing raised wood fibres from a water based finish or stain then a tiny bit more abrasion is helpful. There may be some benefit to adhesion, when you denib, but it will be limited and the second coat should be fine. Just work across your project working with the grain, applying just enough pressure to smooth it out the finish.

Mirka Mirlon pads are recomended when decorating for the removal of raised grain on timber after an initial coating has been applied, and recommended for denibbing between subsequent coats.Thank you so does that mean with the product I am looking at using I would need to use a fine grade wool? Its really just a light going over the surface to remove any lose nibs or particles that managed to get in or under the first coat of oil. It might seem counter-intuitive to be sanding a finish that you’ve just applied, so I prefer to think about it as polishing the finish that you’ve applied rather than sanding it.
