About this deal

After cleaning, leave the door to dry for 24 hours before applying Polytrol. Make sure that your door is completely dry before moving on to the next step! 2. Apply the Polytrol Once you have finished using Polytrol, clean any brushes or other tools you may have used with white spirit. Cloths can be left flat to airdry before discarding.

Tip: If your front door has mildew on it, just scrub it with a 50:50 bleach and water solution and leave to stand for about 10 minutes, before rinsing. For more information about Paul and his company please see his bio below. We couldn’t wait to see the photos and share them with our other customers. I’m sure you’ll agree that the transformation is nothing short of marvellous! DO NOT use Polytrol on white surfaces, it will not work as Polytrol is designed to restore pigments. Surface PreparationPolytrol is a deep penetrating oil which restores the original colour and appearance of dull or tarnished plastics, gelcoats, metals, and other surfaces.

Good preparation is key to a good finish. To have an excellent result you must begin with a clean door free to any dirt, grease, grime and mildew. As Polytrol work by saturating deep down into the surface, if you have any wax or polish applied to the door, this will also need to be removed before application of Polytrol can begin. Polytrol is a colour reviver and restorer which restores pigments faded or dulled by exposure to the sun. It is a deep penetrating oil that restores the original look and finish to gelcoat, plastic, metal and other surfaces. How do I use Polytrol colour restorer? Gelcoat Restorer is simple and easy to apply and can be done in five short steps, some of which you can often omit depending on the state of your gelcoat to begin with: You can use Dilunett to remove the previous orange-brown coating, however, Dilunett is powerful enough to remove up to 8 coats of paint in one application, so any other coats of paint that lay underneath the new paint will also be removed.

The colour of my composite door is fading, can I apply Polytrol to this type of surface?

Simple to apply using a cloth or soft brush, it’s ready to wipe off in just 10 minutes! It can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces and can even be used on fiberglass (GRP). Marine Polytrol dries to a tough and long-lasting flexible finish which does not leave a film – so it won’t peel or flake. Ideal Uses for Marine Polytrol Gelcoat Restorer Although we didn’t have any mildew on the door, if you do, don’t worry. Mildew can be treated with a 50:50 bleach and water solution. Just scrub it on, leave it for 10-15 minutes, then rinse it off. We get a lot of FAQ’s about our colour restorer Polytrol. It’s a fairly unique product and so it is understandable that people should have questions about it. Absolutely outstanding product. I have a 22 year old Ifor Williams horsebox trailer and have been looking for months for a product that would cover / Treat or restore the faded painted side panels. Some of these panels had transfers applied by previous owners. These I had removed which left a darker silhouette on the panels where they had faded around them, which further made the trailer look shabby. After this, it’s time to wipe off any excess product with a clean, lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry

Maintenance is due when a Polytrol treated surfaces shows signs of fading. Prepare and re-treat surfaces as directed above. Do not allow excess Marine Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product). Clean the surface with Net-Trol, rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry for a minimum of 24 hours depending on the surface. Using Polytrol on metal Any left over Polytrol should be transferred to a smaller, airtight, closed metal or glass container and kept from freezing and high temperatures. Do you have samples of Polytrol? All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, grease, grime and mildew. All waxes, polishes, silicone etc. should be completely and thoroughly removed. Treat any mildew with a 50:50 bleach and water solution. Scrub the solution on to the surface and allow it to stand for 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly. Using Polytrol on plastic, gelcoat, tiles, painted surfaces etc.

Clean the surface with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly or use an appropriate solvent (follow manufacturer’s instructions). Leave the surface to dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Application of Polytrol Color Restorer General directions We hope these Polytrol FAQ’s were helpful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them in the comment section below. We love hearing from you!

Owatrol Polytrol is used for revitalising the colour and appearance of tarnished and dulled plastics or fibreglass (GRP) plus many other substrates. Works excellently at re-enhancing the surface. Polytrol eliminates the need for waxes and polishes that sit on the surface and dry out quickly.

When using Polytrol, it’s important to work in areas that you can complete in 10-20 minutes. As most front doors are quite small, you can usually do it all in one go.
