About this deal

Image accuracy is also very good with excellent calibrated images and decent HDR performance thanks to Dolby Vision dynamic metadata. Hisense makes use of a variety of different smart TV platforms, depending on the set you’re watching, including the third-party Roku and Android TV platforms.

The FALD backlight and local dimming system are also good with 72 dimming zones available and a decent algorithm which, in a normal living room, provides a very good performance. cd/m2 (using a checker chart) and a peak brightness of 240 cd/m2 (nits) giving it an on/off contrast ratio of 4800:1. In her free time, you'll catch her travelling the globe – the perks of being a freelance tech expert – tending to her plants when at home and, but of course, planning her next big trip.As you can see in the greyscale results, we were able to get reference levels of accuracy and have gamma tracking perfectly to BT. This allows soundtracks that support the technology to place sounds above and around the listener with compatible kit.

In fact, our main takeaway from playing HDR on the 55A7GQ is that it tends to make black levels even worse.Given its size, a decent soundbar is a must, but judged on its own merits it offers solid clarity with dialogue; a presentation that’s clear, crisp and pleasingly sharp but refrains from wondering into sibilant territory. does reach the claimed 90% coverage with the saturation tracking also doing a decent job of aiming for accuracy with WCG content. While the mid-range drivers are limited in their range of frequencies, they’re also entirely innocuous.

This was supposed to be the official TV of the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament which has sadly been moved to next year due to COVID 19, so the packaging of the TV is covered in Euro logos. The usual Gravity torture test (Sandra Bullock floating off into the darkness of space surrounded in stars) catches it out with lots of star crushing present, but we didn’t expect it to pass that test anyway. The depth and solidity to the image is enhanced by the Dolby Vision Dark picture mode, which gives added subtlety to Dolby Vision content. It is perfectly serviceable for everyday soaps, news channel or documentaries, but if you want more depth and substance to your TV audio I would suggest that a soundbar is a must. The solid, tidy and full-featured remote control is well-appointed and features a handful of shortcut buttons to the main video services. IMAX Enhanced certification promises clearer and brighter images, along with better optimised sound with supported content. Like with the picture, most people will probably keep it to either Standard or Auto, but if you’re having a movie night then it could well be worth switching to Theatre because it boosts the surround sound effect to some degree.

It is possible to mitigate against some of these issues and making sure your viewing environment is suitable for this type of TV display will help.Second, while the 55A7GQ’s colours are routinely impacted by the screen’s inescapable grey overwash, there’s enough subtlety in the way blends and tones are presented to reveal that the TV’s core colour processing is pretty good, in keeping with other Hisense TVs we’ve seen recently.
