About this deal

If you’re using King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (which has exactly the right protein content for diner pancakes), you should use about 1 1/4 cups (283g) of liquid for every cup of flour (120g) in your recipe. Obviously, pancakes are the heart of this breakfast board. I like to make a variety of pancakes. Small, large, fluffy, thin. This should be a pretty simple step to do, as all you need to do is draw some curved lines onto the pile of pancakes. I, for one, love malted milk anything — chocolate, milkshakes, pancakes — so I use 3 tablespoons (26g) of malted milk powder per cup of flour. For our Buttermilk Pancakes recipe, that means adding 6 tablespoons (which is a generous 1/3 cup or 52g) of malted milk powder to the dry ingredients. A pancake board is the perfect breakfast to serve when you have guests over or for a party. We’ve even made it for dinner (brinner!) and it’s always received with squeals of delight from the kids (and grown ups).

These lines will go onto the centers of the pancakes on top of the pile, and they will go in between the trails of syrup dropping down on the pile. If you’re truly trying to replicate the diner pancake experience at home, shoot for pancakes that are about 8” to 10” in size (about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of batter per pancake). Ideally, the board will have a lip on it to hold in all the contents. But if you don't have one that's suitable, don't sweat it. Just assemble it where you plan to serve it so there's less risk of things falling out. You could use similar colors for the pancakes and syrup, and then use some yellow for the butter. You could also go ahead and use any other colors and shades that you may prefer instead.

If you just want to use it to make crêpes and pancakes, you can go for a smaller size (around the 24cm mark). However, if you want this to double up as a fryer, go for a larger diameter. You can prep much of it ahead of time: get all the fruit ready and then just flip up some pancakes and assemble. Next, inspired by my fellow blogger PJ’s love of buttery and moist pancakes, we explored how to make decadent pancakes that are rich with flavor. Learn how to make buttery pancakes in our second lesson.

This may seem like a small thing, but it will really help to make your drawing even more interesting! Once the bacon is finished baking, turn the oven down to 200°F and then keep the cooked bacon and pancakes in the oven to keep them warm until I’m ready to put them on the board. In Australia pikelets, small fluffy round pancakes, are often found pre-made in supermarkets and are served for dessert with fruit and whipped cream or ice cream.

I’ll be adding chocolate and a handful of berries to my diner pancakes, that’s for sure. Tip #5: Cook until evenly golden If you’ll be using this pan frequently, opting for a material like reinforced cast metal should ensure longevity.Customize pancakes to taste by sprinkling whimsical ingredients like chips, fruit, and nuts atop each pancake as they cook. Once these additional pancake outlines have been drawn, you can finish off by drawing another rounded line for the rim of the plate. Step 3 –Next, draw the syrup on the pancakes Now make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it. Then begin whisking the eggs – any sort of whisk or even a fork will do – incorporating any bits of flour from around the edge of the bowl as you do so. Flip the pancake over with a pan slice or palette knife – the other side will need a few seconds only – then simply slide it out of the pan onto a plate.
