About this deal

If you are using the smartphone app in real-time as you brush the app will tell you which mode you are using on-screen. It doesn’t remember the last mode used I don’t have the figures of the number of oscillations and pulsations on the older Pro 5000 available to give confirmation of the power difference. And add to this, there have been various iterations of the 5000 over the years, so it would be important to find out the exact one to say 100%. However, for those who require more detail, we do have a number of comprehensive written comparisons. Another slight difference is the 9000’s lovely travel case has a clip built into the lid that holds a smartphone, for using the app when travelling.

The actual charging cord for the case is quite bulky. Rather than a simple USB cable, which some other toothbrush charging cases have, this one uses an adaptor which is almost as bulky as the regular charging stand. The iO range has Oral-B’s best-ever cleaning performance, and the iO6 has five cleaning modes, a brushing timer and a light-up pressure sensor ring. Two extra brushing modes are nice but you'll probably never really use them. The Tongue Cleaner mode is just programmed to turn off after 20 seconds, but you could do the same thing manually with any other mode. And actually, we recommend you try using a tongue scraper if you really want a clean tongue. The idea is that all of this technology in the iO trains you to brush your teeth more effectively. Over time, you should see your score improve. It does too come with a premium travel case, similar to that of the Genius X, which allows the brush to be charged whilst inside. However, like the X, this requires a separate proprietary power adapter.

Thank you for the in depth wonderful information/video and I hope all my blubbering helps some of y’all on the fence as I was, and/or on a limited budget that could use a coupon/discount…like me. Oral-B also has discounts currently on-going now as well, so do your homework and happy shopping and better dental health! Reply I’ve yet to find anyone who uses them all or any real justification for having so many. The reality is the cleaning results between each are very similar.

Although both have 5 cleaning modes, they are different. The iO5 has daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense and whitening, whilst the iO6 has daily clean, sensitive, intense, whitening and gum care. The iO5 has super sensitive whilst the iO6 has gum care. A new magnetic charger means the brush can be recharged in as little as 3 hours, rather than the more typical 12. If you want the smart features the iO5 offers, it is worth giving serious consideration to the iO6. It is often similarly priced, with perhaps a small premium. It has a display built into the handle which is more intuitive when it comes to selecting and knowing which mode is in use.Perfecting your brushing routine, including the brushing time, technique and frequency will bring more positive benefit than any particular toothbrush. To my knowledge, all brushes have the same battery. All are claimed to last 2 weeks on a single charge. They all have a bight red/green pressure sensor, a vibration-based brushing timer and a choice of cleaning modes. If you need more detail on any of the brushes, read on or leave a comment. Brush vs brush comparison posts

The Pro 3 3000 has a slightly revised design. It looks a little cleaner. Unlike the 2000, it does not have a rubber grip that runs the length of the brush handle. Instead, the only grip on the front is the panel that contains the power button.

With either you have to power the brush on to change mode, but the Genius will remember the cleaning mode and start on this next time it is powered on, the 5000 does not. The red light is accompanied by a slight reduction in the motor speed. You can customize the color displayed on the LED ring when the brush is on but not in use; a fun but completely unnecessary feature. Depending on the model you go for, you have the choice between 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 brushing modes. 7 is the maximum number of cleaning modes available on any Oral-B brush. All system components (e.g., toothbrush handle, charger, power cord, SmartGuide). You do not need to include accessories like the brush heads or refill stand.

iO specific heads are required for the iO5. Compared to brush heads you might be familiar with from Oral-B, they are marginally deeper. You’re looking at about a 10 percent difference. You’ll need to use the app to get your iO set up and to make the most of it after that. Essentially, Oral-B has shunted some of the settings and functionality away from the handle to the app and this could prove to be an annoyance for people who want to ditch the smart features. Bad news though – even if you opt for the cheaper iO4, you’ll still need to use the app to customise your brush beyond factory settings. I can’t categorically say what’s causing such variance. My suspicion is the color displays. I will often see it activated as a result of vibration or movement nearby, thus drawing power from the battery. The iO7, 8 and 9 come with a premium magnetic charging standActivated as soon as you power the brush on at 30 second intervals, the brush motor momentarily pauses. The sound and brushing sensation change. This is your notification to move to the next section of your mouth. Come 2 minutes, the alert is 3 momentary pauses. Hear this and you’ve brushed for the recommended minimum time. When comparing the iO7, 8 and 9, it seems worth paying the extra for the top model, as long as you've found it with a decent discount.
