Owen Jones (born 8 August 1984) [2] is a British newspaper columnist, political commentator, journalist, author, and left-wing activist. He writes a column for The Guardian and contributes to the New Statesman and Tribune. He has two weekly web series, The Owen Jones Show, and The Owen Jones Podcast. I agree with the author about Margaret Thatcher and her cruel war on the British poor. But the liberal and left elites now in charge have been even worse in oppressing Britain's indigenous working classes and lumpenproletriat

Owen Jones: Yeah, we bloody love a bit of want! Margaret Thatcher said in the late 70s, that there’s no such thing as primary poverty in rich countries anymore. You’re left, she said, with the result of individual behaviour and personality defects, people not being able to budget. So rather than poverty and unemployment being seen as social injustice, due to the structure of society (which therefore needed a collective correction), these are individual problems, being encouraged and subsidised by the welfare state. And that’s at the height of mass unemployment. Pinochet shared one of the main aims of his ideological soulmates in Britain: to erase the working class as a concept. His goal, he declared, was to ‘make Chile not a nation of proletarians, but a nation of entrepreneurs’.” Cruddas, Jon (3 June 2011). Jones lays bare the makings of our modern 21st Century society -- and it's not pretty. Flood, Alison (31 August 2011). "Guardian first book award longlist: fiction takes lead". The Guardian. London. Archived from the original on 3 April 2015 . Retrieved 13 November 2011. George Orwell observed: ‘If you look for the working classes in fiction, and especially English fiction, all you find is a hole … the ordinary town proletariat, the people who make the wheels go round, have always been ignored by novelists. When they do find their way between the corners of a book, it is nearly always as objects of pity or as comic relief.’2” De acuerdo con la Fundación para una Nueva Economía (NEF, 2009), el valor social de diferentes trabajos se puede calcular. Una limpiadora de hospital cobra a menudo el salario mínimo. Sin embargo, generan más de 10 libras de valor social por libra pagada de salario. Un basurero o persona que trabaje en reciclado genera 12 libras por libra de salario. Divide-and-rule political gambits don't work unless there are enough people who don't already tend, in some way, to one side or the other: classes are complicated entities. One example of this is how different people living in council housing reacted in 1980 to the introduction of the "right to buy" policy, which, Jones argues, was calculated to undermine working-class solidarity. Their decisions were partly a reflection of the circumstances they were in, and partly a reflection of their broader outlook as individuals. Some people thought the idea of owning their own home was wonderful, or held it as a long-term aspiration. Others found the idea repellent and saw it as a deliberate attempt to break up communities. Still others were concerned only with the practical elements – could we afford to replace our own boiler?
