BD-1 is just the latest in a long line of buildable LEGO Star Wars characters that not only accurately capture all the details and authentic aspects of what we see on screen, but also manage to quite skilfully build into a LEGO set that same charm and personality that made us fall in love with the character in the first place. In this article, we provide the retirement dates of all LEGO Star Wars sets currently on sale, including those leaving shelves in just a few months time. 2023 Looking ahead to next year, a further 29 sets are currently scheduled to retire. This includes the long-running UCS Millennium Falcon, the UCS Luke's Landspeeder, and the Mos Eisley CantinaBD droids are designed for exploration, so feature a sophisticated sensor suite alongside the standard photoreceptor. These sensors include a combined scanner and holoprojector, which looks excellent on this model. The distinctive shroud protecting the photoreceptor and scanner also compares favourably with the original droid. BD-1 was the first BD unit introduced, but not the first to appear in LEGO form, as 75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter contains BD-72. Nevertheless, this droid features distinctive red markings to distinguish BD-1 from his blue counterpart, alongside metallic silver accents which match the original droid.

Indeed, for that long list of similar, large-scale builds of some of the most adorably diminutive characters from Star Wars, 75335 BD-1 doesn’t feel like it’s treading much new ground, at least as far as concept goes. BD-1 measures 28cm in height and therefore approaches life-size, unlike the various droids produced previously. However, the size of these droids is relatively consistent, so I think they look fantastic when displayed together. 75308 R2-D2 and 75335 BD-1 are very similar in size, for example, as presented below.More important than just replicating the appearance and functionality of the little droid, though, is the movement that has been built into those different parts of 75335 BD-1 – the legs and head – to offer a range of poses and subtle movements that perfectly mimic the on-screen character. It is through those movements that BD-1’s expression and personality is felt in the video game and is perfectly captured and brought out again in LEGO form here. Other highly rated sets are also leaving, such as the Inquisitor Transport Scythe and Razor Crest. Set # You’ll also receive an information plaque and a BD-1 Lego minifigure that can be attached next to the sign to complete a charming display piece. Alongside the large-scale version of BD-1, 75335 BD-1 includes a minifigure-scale mould of the character to sit on the UCS-style plaque that comes with the set. Less detailed and less mobile, it serves as a neat bonus inclusion that doesn’t need to be the focus of anything in particular. It also looks like the Ahsoka sets that were released earlier this month may not hang around for long as they are planned to leave at the end of 2024.
